Are there any simulators that can be run on a Mac with the Avata2 model as part of the simulator drone inventory? Laptop is an older MacBook Air running Sonoma.  Last possible OS update for this gen processor.

Right now considering LiftOff.  The FPV RC3 seems to be compatible with simple and quick connection.  IIRC it has an option or two to practice racing.

Assuming that if there is an Avata2 model it would mimic real world Avata2 flight behavior.
A plus would be a Neo model, but not necessary.  Less concerned crashing it flying M mode.

I used Curry Kitten from the GitHub link,  its free, works on older Macs and was enough to get the basics of manual flying.

Velocidrone is the best for physics hands down and it not require a mega computer. The graphics is not so accurate as LiftOff or other simulators. And this for you is a pros.
On the other hand I found liftoff (and liftoff microdrone) the best balanced between graphics and physics.

Might be the option for the older AirBook.  Graphic card is a basic Intel UHD 612.  LiftOff spec note AMD.... Spec also noted "broadband internet connection".  Not sure if my max 8mbs download would be adequate.

First attempt to fly the Neo in M mode outdoors this afternoon. Bit on the windy side.  High wind warning would flash on occasionally even at low (yellow range) altitude.  Flying like the fluttering leaves dropping from the trees.  Throttle modulation was poor. Me, not the controller. Had to use the Pause/Brake switch just before ground impact.  I like that switch.  Better to bail out of M mode than crash.

Wind makes flying M mode for us newbs much harder,   and those whoops really wont help.   I went the DJI route to learn M mode just for that Pause/Brake button.

After a few hours past (8Mbps download speed) I tested LiftOff. Very slow to load and initiate from my Steam Library.  Definitely need a higher quality video card and probably processor than what is in my soon to be vintage MacBook Air.  Sonoma is the last available OS the laptop is capable of upgrading to.

Next try. CurryKitten FPV Sim. It works fine.  Loads and initiates a magnitude quicker than LiftOff.  Simple and easy to set up, friendly users menu.  Happy user.  Set up for use with the RadiomasterPocket. Saving the FPV RC3 gimbal wear for real world use.

Thanks for the suggestion.  $1.99 at Steam.

Sim might be it for indoors fpv flying during this coming cold season.  Unless they fix the Neo's low light environment issues.

Yes, the less expensive option.  Had to open a Steam account to download LiftOff.  So, I just added the CurryKitten FPV Sim to the 'Library".

Downloaded Betaflight and ELRS configurator a while back from GitHub.  Required a little go around since neither were "approved" Apple developers.  Simple but a few more steps v. click download. Assumed just the same issue with CurryKitten since it is no longer available at the Apple Mac Apps Store.  I'm lazy. For the $1.99 + tax it made life easier just to download through Steam.

When I did it,  I was able to download an executable that you just run,  no installation etc was required.

Was that when CurryKitten FPV Sim was available at the Apple Mac Apps store.  Still listed if you Google, but when I went to the Apple Mac App store it was not available anymore.

GateKeeper and some other built into the latest and at least since Catalina prevents downloading apps from developers not "approved" by Apple without a simple go around that allow for those apps if the user wishes to download.   Just a few additional clicks after the "warning" box appears.

Looking at the file I downloaded from GitHub its showing as being signed by the developer so that might be why it didnt cause me any issues.

Curious what version you downloaded.

The Steam version that downloaded a few days ago notes vo.56b, Beta version. Yet the Steam page noted vo.41b, release date June 12, 2020.  IIRC, Steam noted auto updates.  Guessing why 56b downloaded.  Which looks to be the latest release based on the GitHub webpage.  Spec noted both Intel and Apple Silicon supported.   I appreciate developers who design programs that are back compatible.

I downloaded CK-FPV-Sim-Mac-056b with an April 2024 date.
