I'm curious about the logic behind shutting all motors when colliding with an object. I was doing some quick test, flying inside. I must have accidently pointed and flew the drone into a wall. It was in Normal mode, lateral distance to the wall was maximum about 1.5 meters (so it couldn't accelerate to significant speeds). Once it hit the wall, almost immediately it went silent (motors shutting down) and then (or maybe at the same time) I heard collision sound from it felling to the floor (from a height of about 1.5 meters).

Since this is my first collision, I am curious whether indeed Avata 2 may in certain conditions shut down motors upon collision? If so, what are the conditions for this? The reason I ask is that I don't see justification for shutting down motors in my case, and consequent fall to the floor - it seemed like very light collision with a wall, the consequences of felling from 1.5 meters could have been much more severe.

Thank you.

I have crashed the Avata2 3 times.  Hard impact detected red box warning. All 3 times the motors shut off automatically. Which is good. Not sure if motor shut down had to do with the force of impact or in 2 of the crashes landing in the wood among things that can jam the motor. One crash did result in fracturing off a propeller blade.

Neo auto motor shut down with my so far one crash.  Bounced off a fence into the ground. Not a hard impact and was less than 2 meters off the ground.

Guessing auto motor shut down is part of DJI's safety protocol when the drones sense a certain G force or something impeding the propellers to spin freely.  I will take maybe too often auto motor shut down v. trashing a motor.   Have ripped motor wire leads, motors from their frames from crashing other drones before being able to hit the motor cut switch on the Tx.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out and we are sory to hear what happened with the drone. This is due to the built-in safety mechanisms designed to protect the drone from further damage. When the drone detects a collision or impact, it may trigger an emergency stop or motor shutdown to prevent any potential harm to the drone or other objects.

May I confirm if your aircraft works fine? If your encounter any abnormal performance, it's best to send the aircraft back for repair for further analysis. You may submit an online repair request here: {https://repair.dji.com/repair/index}.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
