Hey dear Team,
I got you that you focussed on HEVC/h265 for quality reasons.
But now the Action 5 is my only camera, which can not shoot in h264 codec. It was my fault that I didn't check the specs before buying, because now I am stuck.
Would it be so desastrous to make h264 as an option for people with lower specs computers?
I ask you kindly to consider this, thanks very much ❤️

Hi there. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The footage recorded in H.265 format occupies less memory space compared to those recorded in H.264. This reduction in video stream size by approximately 39-44% also leads to decreased memory consumption. Consequently, Osmo Action 5 Pro discontinued the H. 264 video coding.

H.265 can be transcoded to H.264 using third-party format conversion software (For example, Format Factory), however, the quality of the transcoded video may be affected.

However, we value your feedback and will convey it to the corresponding department. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Hi Tony,
thanks for answering, I know all of the facts you have written.
But I regret buying the Action 5 because of ditching h264 support.
I have never even thought about that this would be a thing. Every other company still supports h264 for a good reason.
And to be fair, I have no understanding for this decision, sorry.
Thanks to you anyway, as you are only a middle man who can't decide.

I would like to see the option to use H264 also, as there was with the Osmo 4. Please strongly consider this in the next firmware update and give the customer the choice as you have recently done with bitrate. DJI have always been good at listening to their customers, let's hope this is still the case.
Thank you

I'll say in advance that I like DJI products, I've been using them for a long time. However, I am very sorry that H.264 is not supported. A huge disappointment. It's also an option on the Pocket 3, I can't understand why they don't leave the option to Action 5 Pro users. This was a pointless step, if you use an older video editor, you can't cut your videos. It is not practical to convert the videos with a different program every time before cutting. If H.264 is not included in the Action 5 Pro, I will not use it, I will rather sell it.

Hi there, I ran into the same codec issue after I purchased the new action 5 pro too. Was surprised that H.264 was not supported in the new action camera. Would really appreciate if DJI can bring back the support for H.264 codec in the next firmware release for DJI action 5 pro, please. Thanks & best regards.

From Japan. I'm sorry for the machine translation. I am also very disappointed that it does not support H264, and I spend time every time I give the video to my friends. Windows does not support H264 as standard, and many free video editing software are not supported. I look forward to adding H264 in the near future update.

This was not a good move, unfortunately it also leads me to other manufacturers' action cameras that support H.264. Sorry, this is not good business policy on DJI's part. I hope they will reconsider and put the option back in the next update. I trust him a lot.

Tony, I don't want to be rude, but don't you realize that you entered the same pointless text blocks over and over again?
We do NOT want to recode with a 3rd party app!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who can't understand the weird decision of ditching h264 in the 5 Pro.
Every other of your cams supports h264. Even Gopro, Insta360 and else...
There is no good reason at all to eliminate a codec. Please give us users the choice as in Action 4 and Pocket 3.
Thanks.

DJI, what you should do is give the user the right to choose. Yes, h264 may have disadvantages, but as you can see, there are those who need this codec. Maybe many users do not need it, so you can give it under "pro settings". Thanks in advance.
