Why do the batteries in my charing hub lose power? I'm used to lithium batteries have a long shelf life. These 3 batteries seem to lose charge in a few days. They don't go dead, but they need to be topped up when they haven't been used.

Hi there, a fully charged battery drains out all its power after idling for about one year. It is recommended to fully charge and discharge the battery at least once every three months, and do not left the battery unused for a long period of time. Thank you

I don't know how much they have lost, but all three of my batteries will blink the 3rd LED when I plug the hub in after a week.

Try reading the manual. It's explained there.

Hi DJ22,

Referring to the user manual, if there is only 3 LED blinks during your charge it means your battery level left 51% - 75% ,this is normal for discharging in 1 week time.

Kindly take note on the Auto-Discharging Function: to prevent swelling, the battery automatically discharges to 96% battery level when it is idle for three days, and automatically discharges to 60% battery level when it is idle for nine days. You can also refer to the user manual "battery Features"  information to understand better about Intelligent Flight Battery.

I hope this information has helped to clarify your inquiries. If you have any other questions, kindly let us know. Thank You!

Thanks for your patient explanation. I have looked up and found the manual. I suppose there must be good reason to discharge to 60% after 9 days, but I don't know what it would be. None of my other lithium batteries do this, nor do the batteries in the RC-2 seem to.

Since the battery is rated for only 200 cycles, it seems like a bad idea to keep the batteries charged unless you plan to fly. But since it takes time to charge them, you won't have a full charge without getting ready a couple of hours beforehand.

That's why it's called an "intelligent" battery. Because it knows what to do without human intervention.
Your other battery, is just a basic battery. Like Lipo batteries that powers Other RCs and other kind of Li-on batteries. It doesnt reduce battery charge if in storage mode.
These batteries is controlled by chips in it that manage battery. Programmed what must be done when battery is not in use and while it's in use.

I had never heard that it was better for a lithium battery to be stored with a lower charge. But, now that I research it, that's what I find. Now I understand why the DJI batteries do that.

I thought the charging hub was running them down without reason.
