Shinobi 7

Shinobi 7

I just got a brand new kit of DJI SDR Transmission and they don't work with Atomos Shinobi 7.

Every other transmission device works fine with Shinobi 7. I've tested Vaxis, Holyland and others. They all work perfectly, so it's not a matter of cables, input, batteries or other things. Only DJI SDR transmission can't output signal to Atomos Shinobi 7. Sometimes it appears for a fraction of second an image but then it goes to black and No Input.

It seems a serious bug and I didn't find any solution or workaround. My kit of DJI SDR Tranmission is not broken, because it works fine with Atomos Ninja V and some other monitors, but I need to use my Shinobi 7 on set and I can't keep them.

I did like a lot the DJI SDR tranmission, they have a lovely interface and they have great features, but reliabilty and compatibility are the number one needs on productions. Unfortunately I'll have to return them and it's really a pity.

Before implementing exotic functionalities like voice communication, the core functions should be tested extensively BEFORE shipping. A transmitter that doesn't output video to a very common monitor is unsufeul. I'm really disappointed.

I tried to convert the signal with a Vaxis transmitter, feeded with the DJI SDR input, and it works perfectly. It's not a real solution because if I need another transmitter to convert the signal, I'd rather just use the working transmitter and return the DJI SDR transmission units to the reseller.

I wasn't able to get any feedback from DJI in order to understand if they are willing to invest some time fixing the issue. They might fix it with a firmware update, but it's not clear if they are interested in doing it.

This shouldn't be a problem at all, one of the most common monitor on video productions should have already been tested BEFORE shipping a new transmitter.

Tbh guys I've been using it for a shoot on the Shinobi 7 with my sdr's and they worked well, only thing was if you moved it a bit it would loose signal or maybe randomly would drop but come back but very rarely but it's something that didn't happen with other monitors so maybe Shinobi 7 was just cursed haha. But it worked
