I am new to DJI action cams. Did my research this was highly recommended for motocross. So I bought this new osmo 4 action cam and I can't download any or use any official dji editing software to use on my macbook??  Now what? What programs am I supposed to use. I am not going to use my phone to do editing. Gopro offers editing software for mac and I would rather not go back to gopro.  Shame, I was excited about this osmo action 4 too!! I have been playing with it for a couple days and I really like it otherwise. Hopefully someone can give me a solution to the above problem as I don't want to return it!

I saw a post with someone asking a similar question about macbook support. DJI replied they have forwarded the request over to look into it. But that was well over a year ago and this can't be a new issue. Is anything in the works at all??

Nevermind I got my answer "When a developer wants to enable their iOS app to run on a Mac, they can essentially "click a box" in Xcode, which is Apple's development environment, to activate a feature called "Mac Catalyst"; this essentially allows them to easily port their existing iOS codebase to macOS with minimal adjustments, effectively letting their iOS app function on a Mac as well."

Its not that difficult. Its just a couple clicks in the app code.  Obviously they dont wan't us to be able to use the apps with our macbooks. Why?

What is everyone using for editing software for these action cams on their macbooks? Thanks I appreciate any help on this topic.

Check out DaVinci Resolve for editing your footage on Mac,  it's free and extremely powerful.

I will check it out! I found something called CapCut while searching too.  I was just really hoping to be able to use the specific software options offered by DJI for ios / android. Would think they would include at least one option for those who don't want to use a phone. Appreciate the help! Thanks

Well staff  is like a receptionist, they place to a paper tray, I can not imagine when their Osmo 360 camera comes out and it be to mobile only,

Free editors  for me would be  Capcut Easy to use , resolve  more a learning curve free is limited  in ways on both so I go the paid route of Cyberlink , magic and filmora, I like Filmora better as it gives me some freedom that the others do or do not do at all, but Happy to know you offered a work around with the Mac app,

Maybe DJI one day will learn to offer simple solutions then not say anything at all but we'll pass it along their way of saying we  can not  answer that question

Seems like returning it may be in my best interest to avoid ongoing non-solved issues on DJI's end.  I am now locked out of my osmo action 4 because I can't install DJI MIMO on my Samsung A13 phone. Can't activate on my macbook either.  Tried installing several versions for android 8 & 9 etc but keeps telling me it can't install on my phone. Unsupported app Install is checked on my phone too. Found a forum where this is a known problem for years ever since the phone came out. I feel like DJI has to be losing customers with these shortcomings. Good thing for Costco and their return policy. Shame because I really love the camera and its features.  I guess I could use my wifes iphone to activate it but am I going to need the phone and the app features while I am at the motocross track without her?? Appreciate the help everyone!!

Feel like Daniel reading the writing on the wall here. "Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin"  If I am already having this many problems right out of the gate maybe I am not technologically sound enough to own this device! ;)  I need plug and play these days, I don't have the same time or patience I once did regarding technology.  I am going to activate on my wifes phone when she wakes up and go through all the apps MIMO / LightCut etc and see what I am going to miss by not having those available to me while at the mx track. Thanks for the quick replies and letting me vent

From my limited search it appears the issues I am having are the same ones others have expressed in these forums for years now with no solution it seems even after all this time.

1) not being able to use any DJI software or apps via mac / macbook
2) not being able to use a Samsung Galaxy A13 phone to activate / install MIMO or LightCut

I understand your frustration! I avoided DJI products for a while because there is limited support for Android-powered devices. To use DJI cameras and gimbals, I decided to buy a used iPhone 12 Pro from Swappa specifically for my DJI equipment. I'm not suggesting you follow my path, but it worked for me. I also have an iPad Air and an iPad Mini that are compatible with my DJI gear, so getting a used iPad would also be a suitable option. I want to emphasize that we shouldn't have to go through this as Android users, but that’s the reality we face.

Why on earth would you want a DJI editing program when your Mac already has iMovie built in, and there are numerous higher end options including Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, Davinci Resolve, etc? Not to mention numerous other readily available alternatives...

I would also recommend Davinci.

I would call it as total misunderstanding how Apple works. You have already got everything you need with mac, for free. There is (almost) no reason to install anything. For office tasks you have iwork (keynote, numbers, pages...) for audio Garageband and finally for video iMovie. It took me at least a year when I finally hit its limit and upgrade to FCPX. Dont blame DJI for lack of knowledge and ability of using sw you already have. Btw my personal statement: there is no better sw then FCPX (with conjunction Motion and Compressor of course).

If you're using a MacBook for editing without DJI's apps or support, you might want to explore professional editing software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro. Both offer excellent features for video editing and are widely used in the industry.

Additionally, if you're looking to improve your workflow or create custom tools for tasks like data handling or file management, you might consider leveraging web-based solutions. For instance, if you're planning to build a custom web app to streamline your editing or project management, hiring experts can make a big difference. You can hire next.js developers to develop tailored solutions that integrate seamlessly into your workflow and enhance productivity.
