Our Mini 4 pro won't fly very far. This is with the DJI controller with the inbuilt screen NOT the version that holds a separate phone.
The distance is set to >7km on the controller screen menu safety section.
I see reference to the fly app in the manual. I thought it was all controlled with the controller screen and didn't need the app?

Why isn't it going the distance?

Is there any error message prompting on your screen and by the mean wont fly far could you confirm the minimum distance your flight is stuck at? Please send us a video recording of the problem. This will allow us to investigate further and provide you with the most accurate solution based on the specific issue you're encountering.

If Beginner mode or Tutorial mode are enabled in the Fly App your distance will be limited.  

How far does your drone fly from the home point?
Where are you flying?

The distance setting in the app is for setting a Max Distance Limit .... not something to make the drone fly further.
The only way the drone could "disobey" your setting would be if it ignored the limit you set and flew beyond the that.

The interference in urban areas will reduce your max distance considerably.
To achieve long distances, you need to fly in an interference-free location.

From what I've read, if you haven't logged on to DJI with your credentials in 90 days I think, your distance is limited in order to deter theft.

The distance is set to >7km on the controller screen menu safety section.

So its set to max distance or near enough

I see reference to the fly app in the manual

The App is for people who use a phone with the RC-N2 controller and is already installed on the DJI RC2

As explained above, the app is built into the RC2

Why isn't it going the distance?

Try the suggestions above, such as checking checking you arent in beginner mode and are logged into the app.

Logged into the app, as in using a user name and password, its in the settings section of the app

Thank you everyone. The pilot has done something online and has sorted that now. The thing was registered online when bought but maybe the required buttons weren't pressed at that time.
