Gilfresh Farms working with 2 Tumoba Brussel Sprout harvesters cutting 2 rows each up and down the field.

The lower stalk is cut and then fed into the machine which seperates the brussel sprouts off the stalk and then held in the hopper til its unloaded on the headland and transported back to the home yard and packaged up for shops

Very interesting process.  I'm assuming the machine is cutting the stem at the bottom and then the gents in the front of the harvester feed them into the slots where the machine takes over to remove the sprouts.  Does the waste (stem and leaves) get put back on the ground?

Yea she has a blade in the claw which cuts and then once she processes the sprouts its fed out

A much more sedate process than the cereals and root crops - and more labour-intensive.

Quite the manual process. not what I expected.   Although we've noticed this year a lack of sprout trees around,  and when you do find some the quality has been very poor.  

Oh I do like sprouts with the Christmas dinner - nice video

yea its a lot slower process and harder to film at 0.4kph

yea the colder snap didnt help but there is less people growing them too

Do they also rely on foreigners doing this?
(we don't have enough Dutch workers that want to do this, so we import them from Poland etc.)

tbh not entirely sure who was on this but i know a few big places in the UK struggled all season

Yeah, don't know every one, but it is a known fact that these farms rely on foreigners throughout the season here in NL.
