I'd guess it was a later addition to the original building.

6.5 miles this morning and then back to the supermarket for 6am.  it was like 2020 all over again with the queue.     Another 3c with a feels like -5c .       Turkey this morning and then SWMBOd will require walking.

Extensive grounds, yes. But viewing them from under an umbrella wasn't quite the pleasure we'd hoped for.

Excellent,    we just got back after 5 miles and 2 avata flights,   we did some hill climbs and made better than expected work of them.  Now some marathon cooking.

Mainly flat for me today - taking it gently for the sake of my dodgy knee.
Passed the spot where the sunken barge was - it's been pumped out and -presumably- towed away.
Got a great pink sky and reflections on the canal.

I'm sure the aerial views would be much more pleasing.  I did a little Googling and it appears it is illegal to fly over the grounds at Levens Hall.  I guess some of the overhead shots posted on IG were taken from  a helicopter then (or illegally).

It's a good think I like to cook as I've got the family coming for Christmas dinner tomorrow so I'm trying to do a lot of the prep work today.  Unfortunately, the rain is not cooperating at this time.  Looking at 30% tomorrow so we may have to move the meal indoors.

I guess because I like to BBQ and Smoke meat a lot I somehow got chosen to prep this year's Christmas meal.  I don't mind though.  Just keeping my fingers crossed that the rain will not happen.  

Sounds like the elder daughter got selected to host your family's Christmas dinner.

I bet they got a kick out of that.  I too suffered a mild bit of food coma.  I kept telling myself to eat small portions but I had made such a large feast that I just succumbed to the temptation.    I hate leftovers so at least I got all the kids to split up what was left and take it home with them to keep me from having round 2 of food coma.

Was it the Traditional English Trifle or a custom Sherry Trifle dessert?   One of the employees at the American Embassy in London brought in a homemade Sherry Trifle dessert one year and we polished it off and almost all needed a nap after that.  Tasty, but definitely filling.
