Interesting capture Mr. B.    Looks like that quarry has been around for a while especially since it has its own rail loading yard.

Yes, the line continues through the Buxton area, linking all the major quarries.

Yes, the Peak District has many quarries. Some extinct, or exhausted, but quite a few still in action.
Mostly Limestone extraction, of course.

I flew along the boundary road, but didn't enter the airspace above the active quarry.
Although I did take a look at the abandoned workings on the other side of the road.
I think my Neo exploits will be rather less adventurous than that
