My Avata caught on fire last week, and I'm here to warn other users.

Facts:

- OEM battery, stored in hard-sided case for about a month

- Fully charged before flying

- Started motors, drone hovered for half a second, immediately lost all flight controls and the battery burst into flames over my house.

- Drone landed on my deck, burned the surface of it before I could kick this thing into the snow

- Drone and batteries bought as part of a kit from Amazon in March 2023

- Contacted DJI to warn them and get some support. Uploaded flight data, serial numbers, screenshots, etc.

- Shipped unit back to DJI

- Got an email today offering me 15% off a new one. 15% . Wow. THIS THING CAUGHT ON FIRE OVER MY HOME!!!! It is a year and a half old. This is insane.

BEWARE USERS - Do not fly inside or unattended. Only the quick eyes of a spotter I had with me saved my deck and home from potentially burning down.

I agree. It was seriously insulting. Just don't offer me anything if you're going to offer 15% off. Let me get this straight: Your 19 month old drone turns into a burning missile over my home, and I get to PAY over $500 to replace it? cool.

I'll give you all the relevant information right now: Bought a dJi drone,. Flew it for many months successfully. One day, it CAUGHT ON FIRE over my home. Sent the drone back to DJI. DJI offered me a very insulting 15% discount on a new unit. That's it. Here we are. The only way I've gotten attention is posting to reddit and dji forums. Make this right. Replace your defective product right now. It could have caught my entire house (with my children inside!) ON FIRE!!! DJI got VERY LUCKY that your burning missile did not actually set my entire house on fire. Replace my defective drone with a new one and be done with this. This is insane.

That is correct. DJI OEM product, bought as a kit on Amazon. Original battery, original drone.   And yes, DJI offered me 15% off. They even sent me an invoice for the remaining amount. Here is their "offer"
