Something I've just discovered - disabling Landing Protection to allow low-level flight:
Earlier posts have discussed the Avata's refusal (in Normal/Sports modes) to descend below 30cm during flight. You can still crash your drone into the ground, of course, depending on your speed and angle of descent, and also, I've found, when the ground rises up to meet the drone. However, it can sometimes be frustrating to not be able to take the drone where you want it to go.
The feature that prevents the Avata from descending below 0.3m over a level surface is called Landing Protection, and for the Avata 2 you can actually disable it in the menu. I think you have to do it each time you fly. It's something I wish they'd implement on the Avata 1, as well.
Avata 2 have also other "feature" - your vertical (downward) speed is limited, when you fly below 3m (5?, 8??). That means, you cannot fly downhill with full speed maintaining 2m high - because vertical speed is limited to 0.5m/s... I would like to test, if this landing protection will help here to (but I don't think it will)

Yes, I've encountered this before, and not just on the Avata. Let us know if this 'fix' makes it go away.
Thank you for letting us know your concern. Your feedback has been noted and will be passed along to the relevant departments. Rest assured, we take all customer feedback seriously and use it to continuously improve our products and services.
Avata2 since day one can fly below 0.3m if you maintain a speed above a certain threshold. Routinely using either the FPV RC3 or MC3 in S mode able to skim above the driveway and gravel township road sub 0.3 meters. Sensation of flying warp speed when close to the deck even though you are barely over 10m/sec. Have found the auto landing engagement annoying the couple time flying the Avata2 indoors in N mode using the MC3. Flying too slow under the coffee table, chairs.... Auto landing engages. Outdoors discovered at least with the Neo just give the throttle a bump if auto landing engages. It disengages. Unsure with the Avata2. Or at the other option. Just fly manual mode using the FPV RC3.

I tested and I'm quite sure that disabling Landing Protection will also disable vertical (downward) speed limit below 3 (4?) meter.
Maybe not for the Avata2. Tested not the Avata2, but the Neo for flying below 0.3m and not activating the auto landing. I use various home furnishings as "gates" to fly under, over, and around. Hardware was the Goggles3 and tested using both the MC3 and FPV RC3 in N mode. Minimum speed at least with the Neo was ~0.5 m/sec to keep flying. Not very fast. Using the FPV RC3 you can override the auto landing after the warning OSD pops up by a quick bump of the throttle stick. At least for me. The MC3 trigger lacks quick and controlled response. Tend to suddenly ascend or hit the obstacle that caused me to slow down too much.
Just updated all the firmware to deactivate "landing protection".
