Festive greetings everyone. I was given a Hollyland Lark M2 for Christmas, the intention being to sync it with my DJI Mini 4 Pro. I tried it today but, after reviewing the film, I still don't have any sound. I'm assuming I have missed something so would like a bit of guidance. The instructions with the Mic don't offer any clue as to how to connect it to a drone, only a camera or a phone. Has anyone else bought one of these to use with the DJI Mini 4 pro?

Hi there! Thank you for your inquiry. I understand you'd like to connect your microphone to the Mini 4 Pro for audio recording.

Please note that DJI offers a Mic Series for purchase, but it's important to mention that it is not fully compatible with the drone. The Mic Series works with the DJI RC Pro, DJI RC 2, and DJI RC.

In initial testing, connecting the DJI Mic Series receiver to the Type-C port (Host Type-C) at the bottom of the remote controller allows you to record audio from the DJI Mic transmitters while using the controller's screen recording feature:

• After recording with the DJI Mic, you can remove it to playback the screen recording with audio.
• When using the DJI Mic 2 or DJI Mic Mini, there's no need to remove the receiver to playback the screen recording directly with audio.
•  Please note that recording via Bluetooth is not supported.
•  The remote controller does not combine audio with footage recorded by the drone. If you want to merge audio and video, you’ll need to use post-editing software.

I hope this information is helpful. We are always happy to help. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. I have perhaps not described the issue I am facing correctly. I am aware that the drone does not connect with the mic, but that the receiver, plugged into the RC2 controller, picks up the audio signal from the mic. What I don't understand, despite lengthy investigation with other forums, and having watched the Hollyland specific video about the Lark M2, is where the audio file goes. NOONE has answered this question. whilst I am screen recording on the RC2, I see that the screen recording says there is audio as well but, after recording test footage, and looking at the microSD card, afterwards, there is no audio file on the microSD card. So WHERE IS THE AUDIO FILE? If it is recording, presumably there is an audio file generated and stored somewhere, otherwise what is the point?

I don't have this particular mic, but a generic USB-C mic from Amazon. First make sure the mic works separately on a different system like your phone or computer. Once you know it works, then plug it in on the RC2 controller. Make sure you have a microSD card formatted/inserted. Next turn on the controller, then start screen recording.  Stop screen recording once you're done with flying, recording. Remove the card and insert it your preferable computer, mac or pc. Screen recordings are in the 'Movies' folder with the filename 'screen-<date-time>.mp4'. The audio is combined with screen recording video and not a separate file.

Just remember the screen recordings are lower quality video on the controller with audio, whereas the video on he drone itself where will be higher quality minus the audio.  Think of the screen recordings as your B-roll stuff.  You'll need to use editing software to mask the screen recording video from the audio if that's your intention.

Thanks very much Robzilla! I did test the receiver and the mic on my phone, for which I have a separate receiver option. That worked fine. That petty much answers my question, namely that I need to have a microSD card inserted in the RC2 controller, and that is where the audio file is saved, something I have not done before and have only downloaded the files from the drone. I really appreciate it. It has been bothering me for a couple of days! I shall try again tomorrow (Next year HaHa!) and hopefully, all will be resolved. Happy New Year!

Hi Natalia, thank you very much for the information. It is always simple when one knows. What I wasn't aware of but now understand, is that I need to have a micorSD card inserted in the RC2 controller. And that is where the audio file is saved. Up to now I have only generated video files with the card in the drone!

That sounds like a really fun project that I have not done yet.  If you have the inspiration to share more about how it worked out or share some outcomes that would be really fun to see!

Here's a link to the latest short I've done. Used the mic properly for the first time, integrated into iPhone footage as well. It's a bit of fun, nothing serious, as I am learning the ropes.
