I see these parabolic tin foil lined range extenders on eBay.  Anyone heard anything about the quality of function?  I am not planning on flying off out of site, but maybe if they work for that, they would provide a stronger signal within line of sight?  Thoughts?

Well, gee thanks Machoman for your insightful reply.  I did a search just now for range extenders and found three (NOT FIVE) posts.  None of them answered my question.  I feel that your reply was somewhat of a lecture and that you are bothered by redundant posts.  If so, please keep lectures to yourself as most discussion boards are rife with redundant posts.  If you don't want to respond to a post, then don't and simply move on to the next post that interests you.

OK, well I stand by my post.

I've heard good things about them. However, I have yet to use them and I might purchase a set just to try them out and write a review.

They work, i improve my maximum range over a lake from 2,4 Km to 3,7 Km...

Directional reflection of signal is a sound well understood and widely used principle that works well.
It basically creates Parabolic Dish Antenna and you can search the net for more in-depth explanation.
It would be a must for me to keep the signal as strong as possible if I would be living in densely populated area by WiFi, CellPhone sites, power lines and any other man made obstructions that potentially can cause loss of comm’s with the craft

Here is something that is really cool and they work very well... The quality is awesome and they come with a carrying case.
I like mine! and they work very well. no they are not all the same. Look at the quality of the solid metal version below, the others have metal stickers on plastic. The shape of the disk is important see the video showing the laser light stay on the center of the antenna the hole time.

Those do look good. I should give them a try. But they sold out.

I use a different range extender and they do very well and well worth it.  Makes even the short range more reliable.

I ordered them upon your endorsement.  I viewed the YouTube video and am impressed.  I only hope this solves the video "lag" that I experience even with DLOS.

I have been too busy to fly lately, but the other benefit is they keep my tablet from flopping forward.  I'm cool with that.

20 long flights and works like a charm .... many times the battery is now the limiting factor .. not the transmission
