What am i missing, what part of the action 5 makes it Pro? So far it appears a bit lack luster to me.

You have to be PRO to get a decent result.

I must say that at first i was a bit annoyed by the PRO moniker of this camera, but with time i discovered that now i don't need to denoise most of my clips in post, which is a bit plus in my workflow. What i usually did in 1 week with Action4 due to heavy post processing tricks now i do in 2-3 days (take this with a grain of salt of course).
Not that Action 5 is perfect, far from this. The denoise i'm getting with Action 5 it's not nice as the denoise i can get with Action 4 and post processing. And i cannot denoise Action 5 in post most of the times just because the denoiser is fooled by the already denoised Action 5 clip. So, there is a tradeoff, but with time i discovered that "who cares", most of the clips are ok, i'm not doing this for money or for some prize and, mostly, many viewers simply don't notice it. They just enjoy the whole video experience. And I enjoy more the editing. It's a win-win
So... this may be a reason for the PRO moniker. And for the better wireless mic integration, and for the better battery management (the footage is good also with low bitrate until you need to shot a fast paced StarWars chasing scene).
Should this tool be perfected? Sure. Would i like it to be more PRO? Of course. But at the moment i cannot regret the overall (please note: "overall") experience. It's more PRO than the previous one.

I am more pleaased on how the camera works imitating some of the features of others as well a pocket 3 its just a name of their pro advance settings, like gopro tried marketing a professional model  name that never happened

I’m not bothered by some missing features, but I was surprised by the significant differences compared to the GoPro 11. I expected a decent upgrade, but I’m undecided. I used Labs and other settings, but the Action 5 is disappointing. The  HDR looks terrible, and the 13.5 stops of dynamic range are questionable. I’ve been shooting with “Pro” settings for years with the Cinema series Cameras & a Panasonic GH5 Vlog and other cameras. I know full well the limitations of an action camera but this feels a few generations old.

we try to make these our primary cameras, I rather just grab my Sony, go biking with it,  place it against  airplane window and  get some exciting ocean shots, but the action camera is greatly meant for that, not my Sony we try to make these Action cameras a Mini DSLR, they're not.    if DJI stops copying gopro and go back to their own ways we have a better camera, let Insta and gopro do their stuff

You get PRO bugs and problems like :

1. Unnatural HDR processing to justify "improved" dynamic range ( normal 10bit mode looks unnatural and D log too ) ,halo effect, sky and clouds look so washed, footage looks plastic
2. Too much sharpening and noise reduction effects even at -2 settings
3. Problems with USB C doors not closing ( production flaw )
4. Shifting Vignetting Effect
5. Trumpet shape flares
6. Overexposing bursts light change
7. Problems with horizon levelling

Agree. The "Pro" is probably just a in-between label for changing the line-up to 2 models of Osmo Action. Could have been 5b or whatever as it came to market quickly and the OA6 is apparently just around the corner (March?).

The regular 5,6,7 etc line will probably be crippled. So..what does the Pro have that the 4 did not?
- connect 2 mics via bluetooth
- oled display
- built-in storage
- hdr on all video resolutions

So.. expecting the Osmo Action 6 (without "Pro") to come without these features
Widening the lineup to 2 versions might be a smart financial move by DJI as they can now base price the 6 and add a cost layer on the midterm "Pro" versions. However.. I'm not so sure the market will put up the extra cash for the "Pro" features in future unless there is also more features added such as slip-on, or bayonet lens modifiers (a slight multiplier would be great for 20-35 mm eqiv!). The "Pro" would also need additional settings options to separate from the regular non-pro lineup  (ability to shut HDR off PLEASE!)

There is ample competition out there. The ONLY thing giving DJI an edge today is the mics. Expecting this to change very soon. It wouldn't be hard for example for Insta to team up with Hollyland. Done.

The day that Insta release a model with a fixed screen Dji's advantage will be lost in a single blow. Many do not like the flipscreen on an action cam and bluetooth mics coming in next version.

well  fixed or not, just keep it there  I'll just deal with DJI as is
