thanks Peter,  It would have been smoother but I was wearing gloves and Im just not very god at flying in gloves yet.   -4c here and fog here today.

yeah, I'm considering gloves as I recently developed something called 'winter fingers'.
So flying a drone and staying in the cold with exposed fingers is not beneficial.

I think we call that getting old.   As a teenager I never used to get cold,   I would go out for snow ball fights in the winter in a t-shirt.

Yeah, the skin around my hand joints gets broken and painful and sometimes even starts a small infection.

I had an old neighbour with that years ago and he swore by using a tiny amount of olive oil as a moisturiser for it.

I'll try anything at this point.
But I'm also considering getting good gloves.

Gloves won't hurt,  Im thinking of trying a pair of thin work gloves to see how I get on before pulling the trigger on something expensive.

I have a pair of cheap gloves, but they don't help much.
Still gets painful.

You need rechargeable hand warmers have a look on Amazon - some are better than others
