Though DJI warned me not to fly below -0c I wanted to see why....
So today I flew in around -3c and also in foggy conditions using the DJI googles and throttle controller.
At first no problems but then at around 60ft the height indicators in the goggles displayed the height around zero meters and the drone motors were making a strange noise as they tried to compensate for the correct height. Basically the drone lost all awareness of its height and I had to force land it before I lost it.
Though I know I should have not pushed it I want to understand why it behaves like this as the ground was clear so should have been easy for the drone to see.
And I have seen other videos of being flown over snow at much colder temperatures without issues.
I am assuming the high amount of moisture in the air was the culprit combines with freezing temperatures. Would I be correct in thinking the two sensors underneath would maybe become frosted therefor could not work out height even though I had 17 satellites connected?
Flying it indoors after it had no problems.
