Ok, 3rd day flying my P2 vision +... Finally got the guts to fly it over water to film the riverside.
one BIG SCARE about Return Home function when the quod loses radio signal...
I was under the impression then when that happens P2 will go up another 20m (by default) and then hovers home before descending.
I was about 30m when the quod lost radio signal...and it didn't go UP!  It nearly missed a flag pole when returning home... I only realized it when I saw the movie!
Question: when in failsafe mode, will it climb to the altitude of 20m, or does it climb 20m more then the altitude it is at that moment?

Scary failsafe moment here:

River side movie here:

If you haven't changed the RTH altitude in your calibration with the PT 2 app n your computer, it will go to 20 meters above the altitude you took off at.  If you were at 30 meters, it will stay there and come home.  You can change that in the PT2 app.  Open the PT2 program on your computer with the Phantom connected and click on ADVANCED, then LIMITS and set the altitude you want the RTH to be at.  Press enter after you change.
You mentioned you were at 30 meters when you lost connection, so you would stay at 30 meters until you arrived at home, assuming you didn't change it in the PT2 app.

you can change the RTH altitude in settings of vision app on your phone, too.
I have changed my RTH home default altitude to 220 feet. As Gerry said, the RTH altitude is relative to the place where you took off (if the Phantom is already at or over that altitude, it doesn't go higher)

On the older firmware you could re-set the RTH height in the air with the remote, but now they moved it into the assistant software. Was nice to be able to re-set it above tree height wherever I was flying.

Yes you can on the P2 Vision. Can only get to it in the assistant software on the P2 Non Vision.

This is interesting.  I thought if you were flying in GPS Mode, and for some reason (just flying over water???) you lost GPS, you would default into Atti Mode, where you could drift, but altitude would still be reasonably maintained (as a result of using the barometric pressure data for altitude, not GPS).  Why would losing GPS over water cause you to go straight down into the water?

Not doubting what you were told, just don't understand it.

No its not, the phantom still knows where it is and sw1 up will make it stabilised flight and RTH.  It never lost GPS simply did not use it - thats a very big difference.

When you lose GPS yes the phantom will fly in attitude mode - but if the wind takes it - your probably screwed as it really wont know where it is and RTH wont work.
