This guy claims he traveled 6 miles (10 km) on stock antennas and a "battery hack".  On top of this in the city under 500 feet up and at night.  I presonally do not believe this but is the a battery hack that would possibly extend the batteries for this type of flight?

Looks like a lot more than 400 or even 500 feet to me!  Can't very well hack physics though.  That's like saying I traveled 1500 miles on one hacked tank of gas.

Not sure I understand, if the Phantom traveling at 35 miles per hour it would take around 10. 3 minutes to go 6 miles no wind. The battery last a lot longer than that. Hard to judge altitude at night.

So he is 5.87 miles out, and is travelling at 21 mph, his time so far is 13 minutes of flight.
he can get back inside the total flight duration of the stock battery, give or take. -- he even has 57% left and is returning. All seems almost only a little beyond normal (implies a flight time of 30 minutes?). What isn't normal is presumably he is getting video to his phone at 6 miles?

a battery hack can simply be another 4s lipo in parallel to give more duration. Just open the stock battery, solder a pigtail on + and -, and then plug in a charged 4s. Both batteries would drain together, that wouldn't change the video or control range though. Maybe he is using a patch antenna on the ground, a relay, or maybe he hacked together that picture in photoshop and it was autonomous?

Not commenting on the picture itself, but its not impossible.  A booster & antenna, and maybe an extra battery or two....   The TX/RX of the p3's is really great stock!

Battery hack is two extra 4 cell batteries with low AMP rating for little weight, and he has to fly higher than normal to be able to be at line of sight, nothing is impossible, but this is risky business when flying above city scape, rather test in the woods than in the city.

Edit:

Upon futher inspection, recording was ON and had 9:40 of recording time.

That is 580 seconds divided by 31806 feet = 54.83 foot per second converted to mph is 37.40 mph or so. Not sure if anyone achevied such high speed as i do not believe i ever did reach this speed.

One screenshot can tell a story LOL, The location of what happened is in this picture:

according to HealthyDrones, I have had mine at 49mph. Flying in 12-15 mph winds.

YIKES!
