Hey there,

I recently picked up the DJI Flip fly more kit. Just have a question regarding the battery charging hub. I've seen a video over on PetaPixel that they are able to charge the batteries on the hub with a v-mount battery. In the video it looks like they are using a SmallRig 99 battery ( https://youtu.be/dvK1GUpBwDQ?si=jFkDjYd0VuPLiJDk&t=697 )

According to the DJI specs regarding the hub:
"Parallel charging requires the DJI 65W Portable Charger or a charger with at least 65W output, 4.3A current at 15V, and PD protocol support, along with a charging cable rated for at least 5A and also supporting PD protocol. Otherwise, batteries will be charged individually."

So I'm getting a little confused when it comes to the technical specs, but trying to learn here - the specs of the SmallRig battery list it as voltage of 14.54v, with the usb c port capable of 100W in/out but I'm not sure what the Amp would be on that PD port. Is that battery capable of dual charging batteries in the charging hub?

I was looking to see if this battery would work as well as it has similar specs to the SmallRig one, but has a better price:
https://a.co/d/eWit5D1 or the updated version https://a.co/d/gzfm6zi

Would either of those Neewer v mount batteries be capable of dual charging DJI batteries in the hub?

Thanks!

I don't have the flip, but I may can provide a bit answer

all those power banks only support PD in 15V 3A which means only get 45W of power, which means they won't support Parallel Charging

Though those power banks support 20V 5A, I don't think the Battery Charging Hub can handle that much power at 100W

if you're curious how that works
Volt x Ampare = Watt

Greatly appreciate the response!

Ended up purchasing the Neewer PS099EP battery, so will have to test it when it arrives.

Thanks for the formula as well, that makes it much easier to compare now. So we'll see if the 20v, 5A usb c PD output is enough to dual charge the DJI batteries or not.

Cheers.

Hi there! We apologize for the poor experience you have had. The DJI Flip charging hub uses the commonly found Type-C port for charging, and you can use a Type-C port mobile device charger for charging.

If you need to use the simultaneous charging function of the DJI Flip charging manager, the following two conditions must be met:

1. The charger must support PD protocol
2. The charger output parameters must support 15V 4.3A

If you do not have a compatible charger, you may also consider purchasing the DJI 65W portable charger or the DJI 100W desktop charger to experience simultaneous charging while charging two DJI Flip smart flight batteries.

So I purchased and tried using the Neewer mini V mount PS099EP battery, a 6800mAh battery with 100W PD Fast Charging and rated to support 20v 5A via the USB C port. So on paper, these specs *should* meet and exceed the DJI Flip Parallel Charging Hub requirements.

Upon running down the Flip batteries, plugging them into the Charging Hub and connecting to the Neewer battery via the USB C PD fast charging port, it proceeds to only charge one DJI Flip battery at a time, with the other 2 batteries patiently waiting their turn to be charged.

So unfortunately it looks like there currently isn't a portable option to dual charge the Flip batteries. If anyone finds a battery that works, please let me know!

I see
dji is really tricky, shame on that

I dont know if the charging hub has a firmware update, but they should made some update configuration for it

there's no battery bank specific to the parameter parallel charging needed, the only option you had is to use the dji 65w car charger and some kind of power station battery that supports car lighter output or uses an AC Inverter with dji 65w/100w charger
