Found this video of the Inspire going in and out of Travel mode.

Yes BETA showed App Controlled Travel Mode

I hope/assume that it'll work just as well if it's being held by the center of the unit. I don't have much smooth, clean, low-friction kitchen flooring available when out in the stick filming.

Actually right now it is Tx controlled.  4 cycles of the retracts switch makes to go into Travel Mode.  It may be App controlled later.

On another board Blade Strike said that you may be able to put it on top of the case and then put it into the travel mode that way.

That would be great,  less ware and tear on the unit being on a smooth surface.
