I stopped in to see chatter about the new Pocket 3 firmware...if you don't see it go to Profile..About..Check for Firmware in the MIMO app and it should pop up.

     Version: 01.06.08.04   

•           Added a Med-Tele mode. In video mode, tap the  <> icon at the bottom of the screen to enable the mode. When  enabled, a 2x magnified mid-telephoto view can be achieved (equivalent  focal length of 40mm) while maintaining a maximum 4K  ultra-high-definition resolution. Compared to digital zoom, Med-Tele  mode significantly enhances image resolution, preserving more texture  details. (In Med-Tele mode, the maximum ISO is 1600 and ActiveTrack is  not supported.)
•           Added breathing compensation feature. When enabled,  the camera corrects changes in the field of view caused by shifts in  focus distance during recording, optimizing the visual experience.
•           Added D-Log M (10 bit) color option in Webcam mode.
•           Added background download for files in the DJI Mimo App. The DJI Mimo App needs to be updated to the latest version
•           DJI Mimo 2.1.12 supports taking video screenshots and save as static  photos and live photos. The availability of video screenshots depends  on the support of system versions from Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, vivo and  OPPO
•           Fixed some minor bugs
  

Cool. I'm glad to see DJI made some improvements at least one more time. I'm most interested in the breathing compensation feature since you get a lot of that using continuous focus mode.

I don't yet see that <> symbol on my screen, though? Only the standard digital zoom slider on the right?

It looks more like a pair of brackets after the resolution (i.e. 4K30) at the bottom center of the screen. Touch it to enable. What's also interesting is that you can also zoom too for 4x.

Yep. That's it. A 'minor' detail that it might have been a good idea to include in the release notes...

Med-Tele mode seems to be experimental project. They collect info should they add another lens to Pocket 4 or use digital upscaling what Med-Tele actually is.

Installed it. I actually like the fast zoom option. Going to check image quality when moving files to computer.

I never use the digital zoom level it just keep changing to joystick / zoom and my fingers just keeps changing it and it is just not great. It should be option in the menu what that lever does. Now I only accidentally change it between zoom and joystick when pressed once.

This was not expected, but I think it's a great idea to improve digital zoom. 40mm option is what many people asked for. While this update looks really cool and experimental, I still want to believe that my request for an easy way to switch gimbal modes one day will see the light.

Excellent work DJI, looking forward to see how focus breathing work, esp in slow motion. Gimbal all axis lock would be a great toggle mode to add.

I saw the test. Actually the Tele mode performs qualitatively better than the x2 zoom. Unfortunately, instead of making a button for d-log m and switching to normal mode automatically anyway, now I have to specifically enter the menu to first turn off d-log m and then turn on tele mode. Does anyone there even think in the technical department? The level of software fixes is disappointing.

No availability in D-LOG really limits its usefulness.

Med Tele mode on-off in D-Log M while recording would be great. Otherwise useless function. I newer use 2x zoom in because it is worse quality. Even if DJI removes 2x zoom I wouldn't notice.

Med Tele very blurry on my 2 Pocket 3

Unusable video

Further testing I found that tap screen to refocus clears up the video in Med Tele and also adding 2X zoom in Med Tele.  Tapping screen to refocus is required.  Auto focus doesn't seem to work in Med Tele of 2X Zoom in Med Tele.

Nice feature add but resolution is slightly degraded from non Med Tele .

Med Tele doesn't seem to be available while recording.  Would be nice to be able to click Med Tele while recording like in the Insta360 Ace Pro 2.

I have other results.
This 40mm MidTele setting gives better results than the 2x zoom setting.
Maybe I'll make a short YT video about it.

However, there are still small problems with the focus.

Did you factory reset it after firmware upgrade? It is highly recommended every time firmware is updated.

I don't have any focusing issues.

Rant: the update via the mimo app is a PITA. Somehow I managed to update the pocket in the past, this time i failed miserably. Either I'm connected to the internet, then the app can't determinate the current firmware of the pocket or I'm connected to the Pocket and there is no access to the internet. Why not just allow to put the firmware on a memory card and update the firmware in device? I really don't get it why such simple things are made so complicated just because it is possible. Oh, and btw, the need to use an external app to activate and update the Pocket had a big influence of my decision to  choose a Fujifilm medium format digital camera over a Hasselblad (owned by DJI these days).

All of these devices can be updated via sd card but because they want to control and collect data via mimo app this is the way how they forward users to use their app.

And yes I hate it and it pushes some customers away.

All other camera companies like Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon etc. you can update firmware using SD card.

Thanks DJI Didn't think the P3 could get any better but yeah, nice update. Thanks also for NOT touching the color mapping on the P3. Please just leave it as is (the image processing) in future updates also.

Would adding the zebras option on the Pocket 3 screen be so much, not just via the app? I've been asking for that feature for almost a year. Why DJI? Just give us an optional enabling of the zebras' display, so only the ones who could benefit from it would use it. Also, the option to see the EV numbers a bit bigger. We don't have the zebras on the screen and the EV display is too small. Make the battery display smaller and enlarge the EV display, it's more useful than casually looking at the battery display.

The Med-Tele update is huge. The qualitative difference between it and digital magnification is enormous and obvious on my 4k TV. I suspect that some clever use has been made of the sensor's fullest available size, and that might account for the ISO1600 limiter. If so, further research and metrics will be needed before it might possibly be extended to HLG and D-LOG-M.

Swipe in from the right. You will see a new setting for it.

Med-Tele mode is great, would be fantastic if we could use it with D-LOG M or HLG, as many users (me included) don't shoot in normal color mode.
