Just not embedding for me for some reason. Tried all sorts of combinations in this editor: plain text, the link button, entering {url}https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3mWNUD0608{/url} but with square brackets. Nothing seems to work.

put the link into 'add link' feature

wait, you're saying "the 50m range is from the drone to the phone not to the take-off point"
but I also have done this, and it was not drone to the phone, unlike using RC, the Neo cant exactly know where the phone is, but it does use the take-off point

That doesn't look like the DJI Fly app screen I get when using the phone alone. I get no home point registered, no tracking, no distance and speed readouts. I'm confused.

I have followed my dog for way more than 50m from the take-off point, controlling the Neo using my phone in manual mode. But I'll do it again later today to confirm.

OK, I have now tested this. You are completely correct and I was utterly wrong. I could have sworn I had done this but can only assume that I had broken up the dog following exercise into multiple flights and had misremembered the sequence of events.

I will have to correct my video, thank you very much for pointing this out!

Did another test today. Started 60m from the drone and flew it towards me (using the phone). As expected, it stopped 10m short of me. So it's nothing to do directly with WiFi range and entirely an artificial limit of 50m from the take-off point.

Which raises the question - as it knows exactly where it took off from, why does it have no RTH facility available when controlled in this way?

good point, that is something people kinda wonder and asking Dji to add an RTH feature for phone only controller

Mystery solved, it's a level-based restriction. It started working as soon as I was promoted to level 2.
