Relatively new to DJI Air3s, used Phantom 4 for the last 8years.
When landing in Phantom 4, I had full control and was able to make fine adjustments all the way to touch-down, which was great.
With Air3s this doesn't seem to be the case. When landing manually, the drone comes down to approximately 0.5m AGL and hovers over the landing spot and then requires a few seconds of constant hold on the down stick for it to descent and land.
Is there any chance for a software update setting that will allow the operator to have full control all the way to touch down?
This would be great in breezy conditions where the operator can manually make fine adjustments all the way to touch down. This is much finer than the drone wobbling down the the last 0.5m landing in a spot that's not exactly accurate to where the operator usually have in mind.

Can't speak for the DJI Air3s but all the other drones still allow fine adjustment after that moment of pause.   But in body conditions I much prefer to bring the drone down to a hover and then take hold from underneath and flip it to kill the motors.

Hello there! Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Air 3S. I understand that you are referring to the Precision Landing function. The Air 3S supports this function. Could I ask how far was the landing position deviation from your RTH spot? We look forward to your response. Thank you!

Yes....ive started doing the hand catch landing the last few flight. Switching to Sport mode helps a bit with bringing the drone down for catching. In C & N mode the drone obviously repelled away from your hand due to obstacle avoidance.

If youre quick you can beat the OA and grab it before it moves.

No. Im not referring to precision landing function.
Referring to manual landing.
I've been manually land on a landing matt.
I fly the drone back over the matt. Then lower the drone as far down as possible, thats 0.5m over the matt. From there, if i want to land the drone, i have to hold on the "down" stick for 2seconds, and the drone descend the last 0.5m to the matt on its own and if there's wind, it will drift slightly and will never land in IDEAL position. With the Phantom 4,  I had control all the way to touch down, making small adjustments all the way to touch down to allow for wind drift. I wish the Air3S would allow user full control all the way to touch down.

Next time please post in the Air 3S forum. Thanks!
Mods, it would be great if you'd advise the OP and move posts to the proper forum. You know... "Moderate".

Whats the big deal? My first post here and from what I understand this is not only applicable to Air3S. The topic I selected was under "Flight Controller". Seems like an appropriate heading to be under to me.

Welcome to the forum. Relax. It's not a big deal. I simply asked you to post in the appropriate forum. This is not it. The "Pro Systems" (Enterprise) Flight Controller section is not the place for discussions about the Air3S, or any other consumer-grade DJI aircraft.

SNR matters, especially to those of us that use these tools professionally. But like I said, it was just a gentle reminder. No offense intended.
Enjoy the forum!

Thanks. Appreciate what you are saying.
Out of curiosity and future reference.
But posting from accessing the forum through DJI Fly App on my mobile phone, as per attached screen captures, what would trigger me or any new comers to realise its a Pro System (Enterprise) Fight Controller, and not a generic Flight Control discussion based on what I see as per attached sequence of screen captures.

I hadn't even considered that one might post from DJI Fly, and if those are the screens you clicked through then I can see your point that there wasn't much chance of you knowing where your post was going. What version is that? On v1.16.0 (Android) it looks much different. I click New Post and choose Products and then I'm looking at the post composition window. From there I can easily choose the Air Series or any other product for the topic, and then the Air 3S sub-topic. But I can't get to the Pro Systems Flight Controller sub-topic directly, I have to choose Pro Systems first.

But yeah if your screenshots are how you got there, I can see how hard it would be to know if that was the right place to post. Thanks for sharing, that's just bad GUI design.

Landing protection is designed to stop people crashing into the ground, gone are the days of people hard landing a Phantom series drone and breaking the legs. It's part of the obsticle avoidance system, if you turn that off it might turn off landing protection but this is at your own risk. Otherwise it won't go below 0.5m.

Yes...its unfortunate that due to a few uncoordinated/clumsy individuals a blanket safety feature had to be implemented. Which to me ruined the fun of full manual control landing to touch down. Its hardly a difficult task to bring a drone down gently for a soft touch-down.
Anyways, as I have mentioned on initial post, I have switched to Sport mode prior to landing and still it hovers at 0.5m AGL. What I haven't done is when hovering in this position, go into the settings and see if all OA is truly switched off. Will have to sus that out next time i fly it.
