Bloody h*! You got it back, as you have the "real" footage. Is it damaged?

For once the Betaflight RTH would've been better if set up the way I do it: climb to 10 m higher than the highest altitude of that flight. Still something similar could happen with a mountain in-between.

It was found at the bottom of the hill undamaged,    not that would matter as it has refresh on it,   as long as I have a body to return.

Yes. that would have saved it,     I was already above my RTH height so it didnt climb.     Sad thing was I was still getting video on the goggles,    bad video but no control.       I fly that route all the time and have never had that issue before.

That was a stroke of luck!  Olympic or Audi rings?  
I'm guessing Olympic, near the cycle circuit?

Yes.  the old mountain bike course of the London games.    Ive seen it before but had completely forgotten about it.

This time wasn't my fault,    Ive flown that route loads,  so something with atmospherics and radio I think.

Sadly I got rather wet getting it as I had to cross a flooded field,  and just after I found it I spotted the park ranger looking in the area.  Hmmmm.

Maybe it was a coincidence,  I was sitting 30 yards away so he could have come over if he had suspected something.

I didnt,  he searched around a bit and drove off.   They are also doing a lot of fence and hedge work so it might have been that he was looking at.

Yesterday they asked me again if I was checking stuff or flying for personal reasons.
Turns out they expected unplanned audits because of a certification that is going on.

Not sure, some don't like to be checked  I guess.
Lots of regulations that is hindering and feels unneeded, so they might skip some sometimes.

For tomorrow I thought of taking my drone for my maybe last  backlandskiing video in 3200 m on our peak named sun view. After your post I am not sure if I should do that?

Maybe let’s wait sometime until good karma is in the air again :-) :-)

Looked like a normal flight at the start but things went wrong quickly.  I'll have to read on through the thread to see if you got it back...title makes it seem like you didn't.

Ive flown 4 batteries today with incident.    We're back baby.

Yes,  I lost signal completely and then got back just a little tiny bit of video but no control sadly.

Id say not,  I flew there this afternoon from the same spot,  same route and height and no issues at all,   nice strong signal its like there was some interference there yesterday.

It's not impossible.  My circle shot failed this morning, but that was due to high winds rather than anything else.

I flew from a clearing in the woods,  unfortunately it was lunch time and there was a dance party from the local uni/college kicking off,   they watched me fly one battery whilst the tunes were playing.    As soon as I cleared the tree tops the wind there was great,     its like a sling shot for the Avata.
