I have a few DJI drones, including the mavic 3 pro, and they all "penetrate"  through trees and other obstacles much better that my avata 2. Actually, my mavic 3 pro has outstanding penetration.  Is'nt the avata 2 desgned for this type of flying and with a newer transmission system, I am a bit surprised.  It's kind of scary, in fact!  I mean, even in my casual flying, the screen becomes unviewable immediately and you are close to trees and stuff.  Really need something to fix this.  I heard of HAM but from what I understand, if you are already FCC it does not help.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  

Exactly if you are already on FCC mode the HAM file doesn't has effects for you. It could be any problem with your Avata 2 unit

FPV drones tend to be flown much lower and closer to objects. I haven't noticed any differences in penetration between my Avata 2 and Air 3S, although I do run into signal degradation much more often on the Avata 2 simply because how low to the ground I fly with it.

Have you tested the 2 drones in the same location & altitude?. Having said that, the Avata 2 is also not designed to be a range monster so it's very possible that the antennas are not as robust as that of the Mavic/Air series.

Nothing technical that I know of, except an abrupt loss of visuals.  Its was just unexpected by me at first.

For O3 protocol, a fair comparison would be between the Mavic 3 Pro (rated at 15km) and the Avata (rated at 10km), so we could expect about half the range there as well, assuming that O3 and O4 do the same penetration-wise (although the videos I saw mostly confirm that O4 Pro Air Unit has a better range compared to O3 Air Unit).

In any case, I could confirm that with the flying style that I usual subject the Avata to: signal degradation is much more common so indeed am always mindful of that.

I wanted to report back about the avata 2 signal issue.  After flying the aircraft in different environments, I conclude that there really never was an issue.  It has great signal penetration, especially when considering that most of my flying is very low level, and I was used to my MP3 being outstanding, but not usually flown as low.  The avata 2 is a real rush to fly, and explore surrounding on a different level.  No complaints.
