Here's the problem. If you start flying with a GPS drone, your controller inputs are just a re positioning. The bad habit gets instilled so quick. The other problem, in GPS mode, when you tilt the drone, it automatically adds throttle to start the maneuver. In manual mode, you have to add throttle or the drone won't move, it will just fall. So, all this going on is more difficult to overcome if you start flying in GPS mode. Not to say Manual Mode can't be mastered, but it's more difficult to learn with a GPS drone. Yes, in manual mode you will have more crashes. It's just like a race car driver pushes their limits on the track compared to driving down I-95 at 55, ok maybe 80. The problem with the Neo is it's short coupled and does require a little more skill compared to any longer FPV drone. The other issue is it's a little under powered but easy to overcome. And last, for the folks that find it difficult in Manual Mode, start working with your rates. There are many good videos that can help but basically one must know what each of the settings do. The way to know this is to try a few things. Center Sensitivity is how fast the drone will maneuver. Start low like 100, 120 while removing max rate or lower it to 20 I think that's the lowest max rate. That number is how fast the drone moves per second. The end of your stick maneuver will be the same rate as the beginning of your stick maneuver. Once you have Center sensitivity at a number you feel you can fly, then start bringing up your max rate. This is basically how much the drone maneuvers near the end of the stick limit. It's just like Expo. Nothing more to it. Wouldn't worry about expo because Max rate adjustment is more important to learn and it's just another way to think of expo. Think if the expo setting of how much dead band you will have near the middle of the sticks. For the price of entry, the Neo is a great start but as I said, it also creates bad habits quickly. |
