I have at times been unsure what causes the lagging I experience on the RC 2 for both my Mini 4 Pro and my Air 3S.  After a lot of testing, I have found out that this only occurs when the Mic 2 receiver is connected.

DJI have earlier (a while back) told me that they hadn't quite managed to get a good match between the RC 2 and the Mic 2.  I am surprised that they still doesn't seem to have managed to do this.

The video shows the RC 2 connected to my Mini 4 Pro and how much it is lagging when trying to access the three dotted menu.

Hi Natalia,

I got this information in my post https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=316131.

DI Susan says:
DJI Mic 2 has not yet completed compatibility with DJI RC Pro/DJI RC 2/DJI RC

Since the two devices are not fully compatible, there will be abnormal situations under special usage. We recommend that you keep the DJI MIC 2 RX connected to complete the screen recording, and then use the editing software to remove the previous audio. At the same time, we will also feedback on the compatibility requirements of these two devices. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi there, we are sorry for any inconvenience, we have not finished adapting the DJI Mic 2 to DJI RC 2. Under this usage, there may be abnormal situations.
We will also feedback the compatibility requirements for these two devices. Thank you for your support and understanding.

I never got a confirmation that the RC 2 has met the compatibiity requirements.

If you have a corded lav mike, would you give it a try?  I use the DJI version, skipping the receiver, and there's no noticeable lag.  I offer this as a possible problem solving tool to narrow the reasons.  My speculation is that it is related to either the WiFi or BlueTooth tech.  I have no specific tech knowhow.

I don't want to derail your specific question, so I hope no one answers this with further digression!

I have a corded lav mic from DJI, but this is to connect to the Mic itself with a minijack.  I do have an adapter to USB C, but haven't tested it.

On the other hand, I have earlier used Mic 1 a lot before I changed ti Mic 2, and Mic 1 never cause any problems.  Furthermore, on an earlier case, I was told by DJI that there were compatibility issues between Mic 2 and the RC 2.  Since this is quite some tie ago, I have had hoped this issue were fixed.

Another thing is that it happens randomly, but especially when I use the touch screen to access a setting or choose something else.

Yesterday, I did a factory reset and also installed the latest Fly update (that became available to me yesterday).  Currently, I do not a suitable weather to test, and I really need to test it over time, because it does not happen every time (but only when the Mic 2 receiver i connected and the screen recording runs.  I have tried both to insert the receiver before starting the RC 2, and after starting up, but before recording and this do not make any difference.  I have even inserted the receiver during the recording, but that gave a delay, causing the sound to be out of synch.

I have been using the receiver on my Canon EOS R without issues and I have also used the microphones separately with Bluetooth to respectively my Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra and my DJI Action 4.  No issues here.

I will test to use the Lav mic (but that will not at all be the same) and I have also ordered a Mic Mini (because I sometimes need at least 3 mic's).  I will continue testing, but I am also waiting for an answer from DJI to hear if they have fixed the compatibility issue.

Thank you for sharing your findings on this subject. Upon checking, it is true that the DJI Mic Series has not completed compatibility and adaptation for use with DJI RC Pro/DJI RC 2/DJI RC. As for the comaptibility, it has not been confimed yet.

If you have already purchased these devices and encounter any issues during use, please record the process and send it to us for further feedback to our engineers for confirmation. Thank you for your understanding, your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Hi Natalia, I am not sure what you mean.  ''If I have purchased these devices!'' Of course I have purchased these devices.I purchased My Mini 4 Pro with RC 2 at 21.01.24.
I purchased my Mic 2 at 01.07.24
I purchased my Air 3S with RC 2 at 23.10.24.

What process are you looking for?
I have already described quite well what I have done, and as you can see, I have testing this for quite a while until I understood what the problem was.

The very first issue I got (that I never had with the Mic one I had) was that the RC 2 froze and I was unable t control the drone.  I then suspected it might be the SD card (because I have seen similar behaviour on my other cameras if the SD card did not have sufficient capacities (but on those caeras, I got a warning - not on the RC 2).  I then replaced the SD card with a Sandisk Extreme Pro, and that problem never came back.
Next issue was when  connecting the Mic 2 during screen recording.  The recording itself was OK, but I got a desynch between the audio and video.  I therefore tested with the following constallations:
1. Connecting before starting up the RC 2.
2. Connecting after starting up the RC 2, but before starting screen recording.

Sometimes it works fine, but other times (especially when I access anything on the screen -settings, selecting modes, etc.), then I experience lagging (as shown in the video at the beginning of this case).  It is the same issues on both RC 2's (both the one for Mini 4 Pro and for Air 3S).

Please tell me if you need more.

Hi there! Thank you for the video you provided. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. Please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

1) Perform a factory reset on the remote controller.
2) Remove the SD card to see if it improves performance. If there are too many files on the SD card, it might cause the controller to respond slowly.
3) If the issue persists, please update to the latest firmware version to resolve it.

If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Thank you!

I now really have to restrain myself not to answer impolite to your suggestion.  I feel I am going in circles and that what I write is not taken into consideration.  This looks like a Bot answer.

I have established that you admited to that there is a compatibility issue between the Mic 2 and the RC 2.  You even confirmed this in you last message.

Furthermore, I have told you that this issue is also present on both the RC 2 for my Mini 4 Pro AND my Air 3S.  What are the chances that both fails.

I always empty the SD cards after each flight, so the card has in maximum 1-3 files at the time (depending of how many flight I have per session, so this is not an issue).

Due to an error in the compass warning comes up too frequently (another open case), I already have done a factory reset of the RC 2, and also uploaded the lates RC 2 firmware (that became available at the same time).

Due to the current weather conditions, I am currently not able to test neither of the issues.  I will report back when I have been able to test for several days because the problem do not occur every time, and only when trying to get access to any of the functions available on the screen.  In the meantime, I suggest you go back to your technicians and try to get a confrmation if the compatebility issue has been solved.

What annoys me is that you seem to totally disregard that I do NOT have this problem unless the Mic 2 is connected, AND it happens to both my controllers.  This means; doing screen recording without sound, I never experience this lag.  It ONLY happens when the Mic 2 is connected.  There is therefor no reason to believe that there is an issue on both the Sandisk Extreme Pro SD-cards.

I also told you that I never had this issue when I used the Mic 1.
What I will do is to test turning off the 32 bit Float recording as this perhaps may require more resource than the RC 2 can take.  I have also ordered a Mic Mini and will test to see if there are any issues (unless you already know that there are compatibility issues with the Mic Mini too!).

Hi Natalia,

Today, I have carried out a test on both Mic 2 and a recently purchased Mic Mini.  I have tested both on the RC 2 for my Mini 4 Pro and on my Canon EOS R camera.

I have done a factory reset (and also updated the firmware, as a new firmware was available straight after).  In addition to this, I forgot to set the SD card as the storage disk, so the recording were stored internally (thus ruling out the SD card).

As you can see of my video, the screen is still lagging. I therefore stopped the recording and restarted.  When stopping and restarting, no sound were recorded.

As an additional information (as I will show in the mic test comparison video later), I did swap the Mic 2 with the Mic Mini without turning off the RC 2 (recording was stopped).  I then got a sound recording that was out of sync with the video.  I have seen similar on the Mic 2 as well.  It seems like both receivers need to be connected before starting up the RC 2.  Can you confirm this?

Both receivers (and microphones) worked well on the Canon EOS R, but what I did notice for both the EOS R and the RC 2, the recording with the Mic 2 was louder (too loud) than the Mic Mini.

I did the test with no change in the gain for neither microphones.

You can find my results here:

Hi Natalia,

This issue is an issue with the RC 2 for both my Mini 4 pro and my Air 3S, so this seems to a common problem.  Since DJI already have admitted there are compatibility issues with the Mic 2, why don't you test one of your own?  The RC 2 otherwise mostly work as it should (other than a couple of other known issues, which also seem to be common).

My guess is if you take any RC 2 and connect a Mic 2 receiver, you will eventually experience issues. It looks like the easiest way to provoke an issue is to connect the receiver after the RC 2 has been turned on.
