im thinking of getting a dji neo as a gift for my mom but i dont know much about it. she isnt really technologically advanced so how user friendly is the neo. im considering it becuase i know that it can be started without a remote which she would have a hard time figuring out out how to use the controlls on a remote which is why i want the neo for her but i have a few questions. how do you recover the drone when you dont need it flying anymore. how reliable is the active track on it. like mentioned earlier my mom isnt technologically advanced so how hard would it be for her to learn how to use it. i feel like she would mostly use it indoors as well so how well does it perform with indoor flight and if it does hit anything 1. how will the drone react 2. will the drone be ok and 3. is it powerful enough to break anything fragile or scuff/mark anything it bumps or knock things over.
Outside it's a great device that can follow, track circle and perform lots of great stuff even without a controller, just a mobile phone.
It isn't recommended to use it indoors or outside when the light source is not good as it uses downwards sensors that rely on a good well lit environment.

do you have any recommendations that I can get as an indoor drone that could replace the neo that is active track capable or similar. I will still consider it though because she still might use it outdoors but if it doesn't perform well indoors which she would use it for most I don't want to get something that will rarely get used
I would strongly recommend against gifting this drone to a non-tech-savvy person. Neo is really great for this use case in theory, but in practice it's got some major issues with tracking, flyaways and unexpectedly crashing full speed in random directions at most unexpected times.

oh wow that is a problem. and the neo is the only production drone of its kind I believe so I'll have to find something else. thank you
Hi there, DJI Neo is suitable for indoor use. We recommend operating it under good indoor lighting scenarios where the downward vision system is effective to ensure stable hovering. Otherwise, drifting may occur. If the incident happens, please instantly adjust the control sticks and fly with caution. Thank you
The Neo is user friendly. You don't need to be technologically advance but one will need to know how to download the app if they are on an android phone, then get the device to connect. You would also need to create a DJI user and log in. The app is user friendly however, you will want to familiarize yourself with firm ware updates ect. As mentioned the app is easy to use but these are steps that a non tech person would have to overcome. Most sons can help moms with these steps though.
