You might try using Blackmagic Resolve to do your colour grading, it has brilliant tools for this type of work. However it is a bit of a learning curve to get there, but once you master it, you will use it forever. And best of all, it is free: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve
There are also on-line tutorials on how to use Resolve.
Yes I agree about the time, for every hour I spend in the field shooting video or stills there are 3 to 4 hours spent editing, grading and preparing the material.
