I began flying with a Hubsan X4, and I think I'm ready to upgrade to something a little more formal. The Phantom 3 Standard.

I have just joined the forum to begin the learning process =)

I'm using the P3 Pro.
If you can afford it, buy the Advanced model.
More flexibility and distance.

Welcome aboard. All of us were new at one time. You will find a lot of useful information here in the forum You will also find a great group of people that will jump in and give you a hand.

There is some sarcasm from a very limited number of people. Just skip over that by ignoring it and no response to it.

You will be fine and enjoy your Quad(s), you will end up with more than one

Thanks so much for the tip! I've been comparing to see whether I should with the Advanced or Standard. I believe the Advanced has a better camera 4K, which is always nice...

Thanks so much! I figure is I can handle a micro quad flying purely manual, the P3 should be a breeze!

The aerial videos/photos are so inspiring to me. I'm a photographer...this is a logical next step! Very exciting!

Advanced does not have a 4K camera. 1080x60fps and 2.7K.  Pro has 4K.

Not a problem, enjoy your new Phantom. You may want to go for the Pro version for the few extra dollars. I have done Photography my entire life and the aerial platform opens a whole new category of photography. The DJI platform also has many safety features that will put your mind at ease and enjoy your photography without worry about the Phantom.

Yep... the pro have a max of 2 km and the standard 500 m

I dunno, you need to fill out tons of paperwork, hire a guide for like 300$ an hour and get permission from like everyone. Its on the whistler backcomb webpage somewhere. Lol doesn't stop me, thats why theres a back country ;)

I think the only difference between the Advanced and the Pro is the camera (1080p & 4K respectively). They both have Lightbridge so distance should be the same. The Standard does not have Lightbridge but does have the same 1080p camera as the Advanced.
