Guys! Can someone PLEASE tell us all how did DJI make the INSPIRE 1 (Also PHANTOM 3 ADVANCED/PRO)'s controller now reach 5 km signal? What changed? What causes it to go so much further than before, being the same C1 (Inspire 1) controller than before?
Is it the latest controller-only firmware update?

I compared side-by-side details of the specs sheet, INSPIRE 1''s previous controller & this INSPIRE 1 "2.0"'s controller, and it's simply THE SAME CONTROLLER MODEL, no minimal hardware changes declared...

Someone answer, please...

GL658C for inspire's GL300C model transmitter. All fall under the delineation of C1 but their are Gl 300's for phantom's and GL658's for inspire's A, B, and now C models. And by the way dji chat last night told me no changes, all the same.

rmr3131, if it's true an it's all the same, where's the  trick to make it go to 5 KM? My Inspire 1 still doesn't go much more than the original 2 KM but I'm eager to make it go clean to 5 now...still haven't updated to the last RC firmware....any news on this let's share over here...

I don't agree with dji, just passing on what they told me, they seem to say that all the changes they make, make no difference, I think it's part of their training. Lol! Search the net dji gl658c it's in Chinese translate it and you will get your answer. Your 5km quest lies in the "C" model. Mine too. Now I just gotta find one shipping with pros and v2's

Its not only the 658C which has average ~16 dB output compared to the ~12 dB of the 658B

DJI also forgot to tell that 1410 Inspire has ~24 dBm output while 1510 has just slightly under 30 dBm

That doesnt mean that there cannot be also additional firmware or software restrictions we are not told about.


However Phantom 3 A/P versions are exactly the opposite: 1503 version in April was the BEST with most range, degraded in summer with 1507 version and even massively further degraded now with 1510 version (already available or announced in near future or comes again as a hidden update I dont know.)

Glad to see someone else who really pays attention to these changes that supposedly do nothing, thanks for the info on the 1510 was not aware of that.
