Yes, it's completely awesome for that too! This is a film we did recently at a firework display and it performed flawlessly. Ideally the bitrate would be a bit higher, but it's still a great upgrade to the X3.

I just wonder what would happen if some of the papers flying around there hit the propellers? This is a serious question. Can they be strong enough to cause problems?

Which papers Machoman? If you mean from the fireworks when they're going off there is very little paper but there could be small pieces of cardboard. The risk to the aircraft is minimal to start with but we take wind direction into account for debris and we choreograph our flight carefully with the fireworks display team to make sure we are always at a safe distance and not in a position that would endanger the flight. The bigger risk is from the shockwaves from the larger shells, so again this is carefully considered with regards to the position of the aircaft.

Hiya. No not at all, it was shot with 15mm Leica at 400 ISO and 1/50 sec. Manual focus set to infinity and at about f2.8 if I recall correctly.

So SkyOptics, please tell me how did you get permission to fly at night in public area ?

Of course GB44, I have permission from the CAA. We initially had a PfAW, then after submission of a revised Ops Manual detailing our mitigating operating procedures, we were issued with permission to operate during the hours of night.

Thanks, glad you like it. We don't do dangerous flying though, it was carefully done. In the dark it can sometimes make it easier to see what's happening in fact. With the large fire in the distance the trees where brightly silhouetted and standing in the right place makes it easy to fly that safely. The X5 and cropping makes it seem closer than it is too.
