I'm new to flying my P3P but was aware of the CSC function (it's not just DJI, I have other quad that has same feature) and it's purpose. These devices have potential for harm as well as damage to the device itself, so I can certainly see the reason for having such a feature/option in the case of emergency no matter how rare a situation it may be. In reality we pilots should always be aware of the surrounds when flying and avoid these situations in the first instance, but they can still happen so the need is there for this feature.

But I can see where new pilots without enough skill or poor judgement may activate the feature by accident, if your trying to fly the drone backwards and to a side at all while lowering altitude and not having the throttle stick directly down but to one side enough by accident and bam..... Most likely due to not the best control of craft in the first place putting yourself in this type of situation, but hey no-one is perfect even when all care is taken mistakes can be made. New pilots may think the throttle is directly down but when flying LOS and not looking at the controller I can see how it's possible to happen and obviously does or there would be no cases of this happening during flight and thus not being an issue at all.

I think the feature/function needs to be of avail to a pilot, but I think it should require more than just a two stick command or a different switch altogether so there's no way of activating CSC by accident under any circumstance while using flight controller sticks only. It could be something such as using both sticks (in or out together as current) but also needing to press a momentary switch/button at the same time to activate or send the CSC command to drone. A 3 command I guess, could be maybe one of the buttons near fingers or one of the customisable trigger buttons.

So easy to do with just 2 hand control in an instant but has to be a conscious choice to activate, not something that can be activated by accident while just moving the sticks during flight. Or simply as put before a momentary button that can not be pressed by accident (another drone we have has a dedicated start button that is protected and can't be used by accident under normal operation). I don't know, but if it's common enough to happen and be mentioned then I would say it's a issue and could be as dangerous in ways as not having the function. EG: CSC command given and quadcopter falls near/on unknown vehicles in motion or persons etc and there's again the potential for harm.

There's far more potential for harm to vehicles/people/animals on the ground than while in-flight under most circumstances, thus providing some merit to the people saying it's also a dangerous function if too easily activated.

After that wall of text lol, I would most of all like to thank DJI-Tim for the wonderful efforts and fantastic information. I'm sure it will certainly save some quadcopters and may even one day help with a possibly life saving event/accident.

Also BIG thanks to all members for contributing, new members/flyers such as myself find these topics and informative posts of immense help.

Can anyone tell me if there having a problem with there c1 and c2 buttons? I'm on my third return to Bestbuy all for the same reason. The first time I almost lost the bird because I was in fixed wing mode. There's no other alternative then to use these two buttons for start and stop of that mode. Please help!  Using note 4 as device and on latest fw 4.700 also I notice the controller icon blinking when this happens. Happening in los within 300ft of where I'm standing.
