Hi,

I have just bought a Phantom 3 Standard for some fun as I am new to this.

My farther is a surveyer and we are keen to setup togther doing building surveys (in the UK) The P3 is actualy quite impressive but what I need is the capability to take quality close up photographs. I understand the issues around CAA and I will be training and applying for a licence.

I have been playing with a Sony RX100 with 3x optical zoom and I can get the quality I need from about 5-10 meters away from the building.

I am after advice about the most sutible platform. I want to go as cheap as will get the result I need as we start the buisness. I hae looked at the Inspire but until its avalible with a light weight optical zoom camera then I am not interested.

I was wondering if a flamewheel F550 would lift a Sony RX100 on a light gimbal, the camera is about 300 gramms? As the aircraft would always be stationary the gimbal only needs to help remove wind effect - would it need a proper gimbal?

The other option would be to mount the Sony RX100 from a Phantom?

I am reluctent to go towards somthing exspensive like a S900 when I only need a small camera payload.

Any thoughts or advice would be great,

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike
The F550 would lift the RX100 but you will have a short flight time. Maybe 6 min.
That could be enough to get a few shots then land and swap out batteries.

I would not recommend the Phantom for the RX 100 camera.

Hi Dave,

I think when I can afford it I will hunt down a S900. Until then there seem to be quite a few S800 Evos going second hand. Would this be a better starting point? What sort of flight times with a 650 gramme payload (rx100 plus gimbal)

I have read about the s800 flipping - is this now sorted?

I have just been given a Tarot 680 Pro frame http://www.tarot-rc.com/index.ph ... mp;products_id=1074

So now I have a winter project :-)

I  have been told I can fit DJI E800 motors to this frame so I am trying to decide if I can use a Naza-M V2 or the Wookong FC, any advice?

I was thinking that from reading the specs but there seem to be so many being flown with the Naza I wondered why?

Is there any danger in buying second hand FCs ? I have seen a few Wookongs on ebay?

Naza will work and it is cheeper. I think the main reason is that it is cheeper.
