Just got the new 5.8 GHZ controller w gimbal wheel and throttle lock.  When I connect to RC assistant, the TX is recognized and I can calibrate (both communication lights at the bottom of the screen are lit).  When I connect to Vision Assistant 3.6 I get no connection.  The mode and communication lights on the bottom of the screen do not light at all.  I've tried a different usb port, different cable, starting assistant with the TX both ON and OFF.   Any ideas?

RC Assistant is for the Transmitter.
PT2 3.6 Assistant is for the Phantom.

The DJI Phantom 2 Vision Assistant_3.6 is for connecting to the Phantom, not the TX.

Thanks all..  Will connect the quad and see how it all goes!  

All seems to be working GREAT!   Thanks to all of you!  AND  thanks to the other threads on the dreaded erratic gimbal and gimbal not working once the Vision App is open, I have full control!!  Crossing my fingers for calm weather tomorrow so I can get out and create a whole new experience for myself!  

FINALLY- THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO PUT UP WITH AND ANSWER ALL OF OUR NEWBIE QUESTIONS!  YOU ARE AMBASSADORS FOR THE ART WE CALL FLYING!!!!!

Just remember to calibrate the compass just before you take off.

I calibrate at every flight.....2 minutes of my time are worth NOT losing $1200.

I do the same, even if I take off from the same spot.

Update:  Calm winds and great flight this morning.  New TX w Gimbal control is FANTASTIC!  NOW... can someone tell me how to remember to start recording!!!!     I even have a "RECORD" sticker on my TX to remind me.  I generally realize I wasn't recording when I go to hit the "STOP" button!   UG!

I have a sticker on my tablet saying "record on".  I start just before I take off and stop right after I land.
Just remember to STOP recording before you turn off the battery in the Phantom. You won't corrupt the video that way.

Very informative information.

I also read thru the comments on the vid and one guy suggested opening up the "Find my drone" to check location accuracy.  Sounds like another good way to take preventative measures before lifting off.
