I bought my Phantom 2 Vision a year ago and have the Model PVT581 transmitter WITHOUT the mini USB port connection.  It has been several months since I've flown my Phantom, and when I took it out to fly yesterday (after upgrading to the latest firmware) it was operating a little erratically, so I thought I'd calibrate the transmitter.  I downloaded the latest Assistant software (3.6).  My problem is:  I can't figure out how to connect the transmitter to the computer to calibrate it!  The user guide is next to worthless in offering an explanation and everything I've found on YouTube have transmitters with the mini USB connection at the bottom.

I DID find a post on YouTube that showed where there was a mini USB connection on one of the internal circuit boards, but when I tried that connection (after opening up the transmitter) the Assistant software did not recognize the transmitter, even though my PC indicated that it had recognized new hardware.

I tried calling customer support yesterday, but getting through to a technician is about as likely as hitting the Powerball…

It seems like I had calibrated my transmitter a year ago when I first bought the Phantom.  I just can't remember how in the world it was accomplished.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to download the "DJI RC System Assistant_1.2" and connect your tx to that to calibrate the Tx.  What version of phantom do you have?
The "DJI Phantom 2 Vision Assistant_3.6" is used to calibrate the Phantom

I have the Phantom 2 Vision, model PV330.  Are you saying that the Phantom 2 Vision Assistant 3.6 is not compatible with my model?

I'm sorry, but does "Tx" mean transmitter?

Gerry I have the Phantom connected to the computer, as per mark_turner6920's suggestion in his reply.  I first tried using Assistant 3.6...no reaction.  I then downloaded Assistant 1.2 per your first reply, still nothing.

I have the Phantom connected to the computer, it is turned on, the app on my phone is connected to the phantom, and my transmitter is on.  Am I forgetting something?

The 3.6 is used to calibrate the Phantom and the 1.2 is used to calibrate the Tx.  Check the connections and try a different usb port on your computer.

Thanking you for your patience with me...

I have 1.2 open and have selected Mode 1, when I hover over the Calibration button instructions pop up in the left margin instructing me to click the Calibration Button to start, leave the stick centered, then click "Next".  I never get the "Next".  Nothing at all happens.

I have tried every USB port on my PC and the PC makes that sound it makes when hardware is connected or disconnected.  I'm at a loss...

I just noticed that the two indicators on the bottom left of the Assistant are not blinking, so there is no communication between the Phantom and PC

Success!  I did NOT have the Drivers downloaded.  (My computer crashed several months ago).  I downloaded the drivers from DJI.  Assistant 1.2 did not recognize the Phantom but Version 3.6 did!  I was able to calibrate the Command Sticks!!

Question:  what is the "Sticks Monitor" calibration??

You have the camera wheel on the top left.  move that to the extremes also when you are calibrating the sticks.  The sticks monitor is for the calibration of the x channel and also works for the camera, but messes up. Don't use that one. When you are in the calibration for the sticks on the left, also move the wheel to the stops to calibrate the camera tilt before you click finish.  Then camera will work.

To be more specific, the "top left" of what?  There is nothing on the Assistant I can see, nor the transmitter

Apparently you did not buy the new transmitter,  it comes on the Phantom 2 version 3.  If you still have your original tx. you can still operate the camera from your phone.  I'm glad that with Johns help you are up and flying again.

I have noticed something funny happening with the camera...  Ever time I tilt the Phantom the camera does not stay in a 'fixed' position.  When the Phantom is sitting on the ground the camera wants to point down.  When I pick the Phantom up and put it in a vertical position (front down), the camera adjusts to a horizontal plane with the Phantom.  I can adjust the camera from the app on the phone, but when the Phantom tilts again, the camera will start doing that.
Any idea why this is happening?

When you rock the phantom from side to side, does the camera rock side to side with it, or stay level?  As far as it hanging at 45 degrees when you first power it up, that is the default position.  You can move it level with the app.  It will stay level until you turn off the phantom.
When you are level, the camera wants to point at 45, then when you point the Phantom down, the camera will try to adjust to that same 45, but cannot.

Ah!  I see! No, it does not move during a side-to-side motion.  It appears everything is working correctly.  Too bad the winds outside are blowing 25 mph gusts and I am in a neighborhood full of trees.  I'd love to be flying now!

I want you to know how much I appreciate your help and participation and especially patience with me!
