Ordered 11/13 from DJI - No Updates

Hate to be a buzz kill but...

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much based on an Amazon status change to "shipped".  I've had less than scrupulous Amazon vendors send me the same sort of "shipped" notification before.  It basically means that they have charged your credit card, and have prevented cancellation of the order.  It does not really indicate anything about actual shipping status.

In one case, I waited about three weeks for the "shipped" item to arrive, and had to work through Amazon to get my money back.

Even a tracking number does not confirm shipping, it just indicates information has been sent to the shipper.

As Yogi Berra might say - It ain't shipped until it's shipped.  That would be when shipper's website shows that the package has been delivered to their facility.

Amazon changed my status to "shipped" but didn't charge my credit card yet. I also ordered from The Drone Source.

another working day, and no life from DJI,  except passing around a demo unit from dealer to dealer.  Oh, how I would love to get a meaty update soon. Some sort of reasoning for a delay would be a band aid for this cut.  At some point, the population will want answers.  My question to everybody is " How long would you go with "the silent treatment"  before you consider a refund?".  (1 month, 3 months, 6 months..) assume the company has a reputable past.  I'm sure we're gonna see these lovely units in 15 days or so, but where is the tipping point?  I'm on the 3month plan, BUT if the company were rolling out updates on a regular basis, I would be willing to wait 6+months for well built product as long as I knew that all the bugs were worked out.  It's not that big of deal to be fashionably late.  Good luck DJI,

I spoke with a B&H representative just this morning 9:30am ET.  They assured me that they are getting a large shipment this week from DJI.  The shipment will cover all pre-orders, no matter when it was placed, and will be large enough to have units left over for new orders.  The quadcopter does come with a case, which they consider a soft travel case, although it is said to have a tough outer shell with a zipper, just not hard enough to consider it a hard case in the realm of a GoProfessional or Pelican case.  It's FREE so many will be happy to save the $469.  Also according to the B&H representative... the Inspire will have the newly designed egg-shaped camera, as well as be complete with all other minor fixes, ready to fly.  Although, they had NO info on the App, which should be available likely sometime this week with others starting to receive their Inspire's in Southeast Asia and elsewhere.  Of course... like all other news... not sure how accurate, but I will say... B&H had these answers quick without hesitation, so that is reassuring.

Exactly... I wanted to make sure and disclaim my post as un-official, but it seems shipments are more and more imminent, which at the very least is encouraging news.  I am located in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

Isn't that like saying to a pregnant woman, you're "expected" to deliver your baby on Jan. 15-2015...just saying! Babies don't not need tracking numbers, it happens when it happens.  I'll believe it when I see it!

I just got this email from drone source about the reason they are saying shipped.

Sorry for the confusion. We had to confirm the order with Amazon before they cancelled the pending preorder. We didn't realize it would send you an email saying the drone shipped. DJI just informed us they will be shipping their first batch of units the week of Jan 9th.  You will also be receiving a free travel case for the delay on DJI end. We will send updated tracking as soon as we ship the unit.

This is just getting a bit ridiculous We can not simply listen to every dealer or distributor. The last letter from DJI stated that they will begin shipping by the end of December. Hopefully their word is good and we should expect to see shipping on or before Dec 31st or else we should have received some kind of notification of further delays.  It is starting to look as the last time where we got notification 1 day before they were suppose to start shipping. DJI please allow us to believe your word is good. Or come clean and say, by now what is the status.

Hi Joop, ik heb begrepen dat de importeur er 50 besteld heeft, en die worden verdeeld over de verschillende verkooppunten. Ik heb de mijne bij dronespecialist besteld. Ik kom zelf uit Limmen (NH).

I still haven't heard anything regarding my order, but I also didn't expect so with the holidays and all. I did find the app (android) on bidu however, just google Dji-pilot apk and you'll find it. I'm pretty sure they'll release it soon or give download instructions in the user manual. I'm just glad it's already available for android.

This is al great new, most of us will probably be toying with the inspire within 2 weeks. Cheers everyone and a happy new year!

I think you will find that the DJI Pilot app on Baidu is very old (v0.3.0.2). There have been more recent videos showing the app is at least up to v0.7.0.51 or even v0.8.0.
I expect we will see it show up soon on the App stores.

My dealer in France received an email from DJI saying that the shipping is starting.....

Me too. I got this from them today:

That's still some fairly solid info on shipping and timings on production though.

CES is in Las Vegas in one week...Jan 6, Inspires should be too.

I heard the same from B&H today at around noon (Eastern).  Enough to cover all pre-orders, units are expected to arrive at the NYC warehouse next week.  Fingers crossed!

Come a visit us at CES if you are a media professional.  We will have 7 or more Inspires there and Blade Strike and I will be flying them in the cage.  

I can now say that the Inspires are now starting to ship.  Yea!!!  You should start to see confirmation from your dealer or DJI.com.  Have fun guys and gals.

Can I interject a positive note here on this thread. I just got notification that the Inspires are now being shipped. Yea!!! You should be getting shipping info from your dealer or DJI.com if you were in the first tier of orders. The wait is almost over for some of you early adopters.

Thanks guys.  It is a very positive note and a great finish for 2014.  I wish all of you happy flying in 2015.  I know that I will.

Regrettably, I cancelled my order today. My reasons may be of interest to other DJI customers:
(1) I placed my order on 15th November. Full price was paid immediately via PayPal
(2) I never got an email from DJI informing me about initial delay
(3) I only received confirmation of delay after 3rd email sent to dji. The reply finally received was a simple cut and paste of the note seen on this forum.
(4) yesterday, 29th December, a DJI online sales rep on the "online DJI Chat" GUARANTEED that my order would be shipped by 31st December
(5) today, 30th Dec, a different sales rep stated that "maybe the order will be shipped this week"
(6) when pressed, the DJI online sales admitted that they are NO dual control versions in stock at all and that even her boss Eric does not know when they will be available
(7) the only proposal made by this DJI online sales rep was to shop a single operator version by the 7th Jan

In short, the history of selective disclosure and partial truths gives me very little confidence in anything DJI says. Notwithstanding any genuine and valid production problems they my have, DJI's policy of maximising sales with little concern for delivering on promises and its conscious decision to only selectively disclose information has gone too far. Why does DJI adopt such a policy? Presumably because they can.
For that reason, I have voted with my feet. It will be interersting to see when they refund my money.

I am sorry for your experience.  Our representatives should be more knowledgeable than what you experienced.  I have a dual Tx system coming to me and I have several friends that have the same coming to them.  To say that the dual Tx option is not available is not true in my opinion.

The units are shipping now.  I am not sure what guys are canceling their orders.   I guess that they really did not want one in the first place.  Just my opinion.

Spoke with DJI chat yesterday, and they said that my order would be shipped 31th

By Tahoe_ED I wanted to let all of you know that DJI is shipping the Inspires out today. Those of you that are in the first tier should be receiving notification from your dealer or DJI.com shortly. I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
