Simple, they used the same encoding chip that's on X3 and X5, this way there's no need to develop and program  another costly engineering project and pay for additional patents that it may involve, not to mention even bigger delays in delivering such product. Their current D-Log and Cinelike with all "fixes" are a giant mess, that's with all the time they had to fix it, imagine they had to rewrite the whoole code from scratch which a new chip may require? Maybe another company, like Blackmagic or Red would be able to quickly develop an upgrade like this but not DJI, at least not yet.

Hmm... quite possible. If that is the case, they can take care of it in firmware. The hardware has to be there im sure.
