This afternoon I had problems recording video on my P3A (App: 2.4.2, RC: 1.3.20, FW: 1.5.3).
After taking a photo, I could not record a video.
The blue waiting sign around the photo button (hour glass) kept rotating.
I had to kill the app. Has any seen this before?

I made a mistake with the numbers. I installed directly 1.5.70 on the RC. I received it with 1.3.20.

Sometimes I also have problems stopping the recording.
The photo's and video's on the SD card are all OK, but I will format it just to be sure.

Occasionally I get the message Weak RC Signal. Even at close range. I even tried linking the RC again.


Could there be a defect in the RC or the aircraft?

I think I might have found the cause of the recording issues: I was shooting in JPG+RAW mode.

If I take 3 images just after each it takes ~20 sec before the writing is finished.
With JPG this is less than 3 sec.

I tried the original DJI SD card (Panasonic 16 GB HC 1) and a Sandisk Ultra 32 GB HC 1.
They give similar results. Formatting does not help.

I tried to get more accurate time stamps so I put the camera in AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) mode and took 5 pictures.
Windows shows the creation time in minutes so I turned to CMD.exe and gave this command to get the timestamp in seconds:
>forfiles /c "cmd /c echo @file @ftime"
JPG:
"DJI_0001.JPG" 21:30:10, "DJI_0002.JPG" 21:30:10, "DJI_0003.JPG" 21:30:12, "DJI_0004.JPG" 21:30:12,
"DJI_0005.JPG" 21:30:12, 2 sec, 18.6 MB = 0.48 MBps
RAW:
"DJI_0006.DNG" 21:30:50 ... "DJI_0010.DNG" 21:31:10, 20 sec, 118.9 MB = 5.9 MBps
JPG+RAW:
"DJI_0011.JPG" 21:31:24 ... "DJI_0015.DNG" 21:31:46, 22 sec, 137.5 = 6.2 MBps

According to the Sandisk site the speed should be 30 MBps.

I was shooting in .MOV at 1080p (1920x1080) 25 fps.
This morning I flew two batteries. I had no problems with video en photo's (.JPG).
On both flights I had one Weak Remote Controller Warning. It was to short however to make a screenshot. Is this something to worry about, or is this normal?

I think the blue circle around the photo button is just a waiting sign. the picture is in my first post, 2nd picture. I was shooting in RAW and after taking a few shots, It takes a long time before all the images are stored. So this seems to be OK.
The weak RC signal warning still worries me. I never saw this with my previous P3A. Now it happens most flights, but only very short. On the other hand I never lost the signal completely. Is this something I should worry about or is it normal?

Environment can change.

I usually fly in the same area and last weekend I had some major video signal breakup in one part of the park. When I got out of that area all was well again. I flew there again, same signal breakup. Not a aircraft of controller issue, simply environmental interference. I went back the next day and it was fine again.

I've had the same issue with the photo being taken and it spinning forever. I was using an aftermarket card. "Class 10, Lexar 64gb". Did a speed test with H2test and it was 10mb rear and 11mb write.. lol.. that's a no go. I've swapped the car with this one:

Speed test shows exact results of what is claimed (+/- 2-3mb/sec). This works wonderfully, saves photos so much faster and no problems with higher 2.7K video recording. While it may not be an issue with the car, it's always something to look into.

It takes  seconds for the app get your photos stored .  For that RC signal weak problem , please test that in a wild space and watch out the attenna orientation .  If that problem continues , please contact your dealer .

I spoke with the dutch DJI support team. They gave me the same advice. I will do some test flights in open spaces far away from possible interference sources. If I still get weak signal warnings their technicians will check it. I will keep you updated.

I have done some flights in an open space, away from buildings, houses and other things that could block the signal or provide interference. I still get short (less than a second) Weak RC signal warnings

Yesterday I flew two times. On the second flight I first got a Weak RC signal warning followed by no (video) Signal. I turned off RC and AC. Still no Signal. Then I turned off the App, tried rebooting. Still no video. After a second turning on of RC and AC I got video again.
Then during flight at 370 m distance again the Weak remote controller signal , but this time long enough to make a snapshot.

In the snapshot you can see that the signal is very weaknly one red marker.
Also the GPS lock is slow and during follow me the AC went into hover due to a weak GPS signal.
I expect again a production defect.
I contacted DJJ Support (Holland). They will accept this P3A also under the DOA program. The P3A is now underway to them and I am waiting for a new one..

Is this pure bad luck, or are there more people experiencing problems with (recent) Phantom 3’s?

Phantom 3 Advanced has a wide range far more than 360.3 meters . People seldom get that range problem about the P3A . Please don't be worried , I believe you'll get a much better one .

Finally  the problems seem to be solved. Tuesday I received my fourth P3A, but this one seems to be 100%.
