I tried over and over to install the new firmware. it seemed to take just fine until i installed the third battery for updating. now the GO app says NA for firmware on the aircraft and the camera, and the aircraft just goes beep beep beep beep. it won't take firmware at all and isn't even usable as a leaf blower.

Quick question for anyone in the know, what was the previous bitrate for shooting 1080p50fps?  I wonder would 1080/50fps@60mbps be better quality than 4k/25fps@60mbps?  I'm having a lot of issues with grainy footage in 4k

I have had 11 assorted phantoms and 2 inspire1s. the first inspire1 was taken over by a techy and a nearby college and I saw the back of his head and his radio as he landed MY I1 in a parking lot about 3/4 miles away were it was run over by a car. I had only had it 4 days. I figured DJI would just blow me off' and sure enough they never even responded. Non the less I bought another aircraft only inspire 1. One of the batteries lost power just a couple minutes into the flight and down it came, trashed. having little faith in dji fixing it' I took parts from the first I1 and fixed the second. It flew great until I was prompted to install the newest firmware. Now it's just useless.

UPDATE SUCCESSFUL!!!  Just wanted to pass on to my fellow Inspire X3  owners that successful firmware update to V1.5.0.30 can happen, although I am always be bit nervous when I read the text file to see the results. I had not updated since V1.3.0 (I normally keep the WiFi turned off on my Ipad so the pilot app did not know there were any updates). Getting guidance from other Inspire forums, I deleted the pilot app and installed the newer version rather than just updating. Updated the firmware on the RC. I was able to take my Inspire out for a quick basic test flight this morning and everything is perfect! Had to cut my test flight short because the resident hawks started to circle the Inspire - time to land. I know a lot of Inspire owners, me included will wait a while before updating firmware. This update went smooth for me without any adverse effects on my Inspire. I do not have GPS in my Ipad so the follow me feature will not work. Happy and safe flying - and happy holidays!

My update failed -

All previous updates were success never any problems.
Craft worked fine before with exception of NO SIGNAL problem where I would see histogram from the X3 camera and have full control, the videos will record to SD but no video shown in app.

No it's says #08 and #15 not detected? What is 8 and 15????

Please help!

Hey flydmc,
good call with the hawks!
Did you update all your batteries?

I sure did, also charged the battery up to 100% before flying. To be safe I keep my low battery alert at the factory default 30%. Have a great holiday!

Capt_M,
8 is a part of the camera and 15 is part if the USB transmission.
Can you try to reformat the SD card and download the firmware again and see what happens.
You said before you tried to update you had no video signal issues, did you resolve that before you tried the update. And did it do that intermittently or every time? Have you ever had an accident with the bird?

Thanks for response!

I bought it used with one boom broken, replaced the boom from one from another Inspire.
Flew and worked great on v1.2.
Then upgraded to v1.4 and the camera would transmit video (Lightbridge?) for the first flight/shutdown, but will not init/transmit video for next. Even if you turn on Inspire for 10 seconds (video ok) turn off, and then turn on - no video.
Then let it sit for 2+ minutes turn on video comes back.
Recently the camera refused to send video even for 1st/cold start and I decided to try v1.5
BTW all of this time - camera works great, I can see histogram and control camera, and video on SD is fine.

v1.5 - I reformatted card twice, but didn't try to re-download it - will try.
Video would disappear intermittently during flight - but very very rarely and usually comes back.
I replaced the PCB part on X3/I1 connector and checked wires.
Feels like Lightbridge not establishing connection or something.
Should I try another lightbridge/central controller module? Or buy another X3?

If part 8 and 15 not detected does that mean they went bad - or possibly only wires/connection problem?
What are those parts? Can I check wire connections to them?
What part of camera is 8?
What USB is 15? is that the connector at the back/LED module?
(before v1.5 - parts 8 and part 15 reported OK)

Please help.

p.s. Inspire 1 flies great - no problems! But no video downlink.

Ok, I didn't know that the aircraft had a crash, I thought it was 100% issue from firmware update. You bought it crashed and it was on 1.3. So it had perfect video transmitted all the time and it only started when you went to 1.4?
The USB on the back is used by DJI.
What device are you using and if you have more than one device does it do the same thing on all devices?
8 is the firmware package for the encoder fro the camera, 15 is fro the transmission.
Try to reformat the SD card, download the 1.5.0.30 again and try it again. The not detected means that that package of the firmware did not update for some reason.
If that doesn't work, it could mean that something is physically broken and you would have to send it in from repair. for a DYI repair, I could not tell you what is broken as I'm not in repair and they would suggest sending it in.
Hope this helps you.

The previous owner claimed that something fell on it and broke the boom. Craft looks 100% new no scratches or physical damage, and flies excellent no drift or vibrations.

I had a bad camera originally when I bought the I1 with v1.2.
I had video all the time but camera had problem with green pixels etc.
I then upgraded to v1.3, and then to v1.4 (all modules were detected).
I bought a new camera (used), the camera is working (sd video and images are excellent) but the video down link is no more after v1.3/1.4 and 1.5.

I thought maybe upgrading to v1.5 will fix NO SIGNAL problem.

If new SD/format/new download fails, do you think trying another X3 will help #8?
And also is #15 physically located in the tail?
Or both #8 and #15 physically located in X3 camera? So replacing it will be an option?

iPhone 6s + latest app

Thank you!

Ken,

Some support, guidance please

Tried to upgrade 4 times now.  Fully deleted files from memory card and downloaded the Bin file fresh from DJI Website.  Tried different memory card but what I am getting is the aircraft starts to update for the first 3 or 4 minutes then I get the continuous long beep failure sound.  I tried to install the previous version again, but that also failed.  Then tried the latest version again and after it failed this time I rebooted aircraft and within the App it says it is up to date version.   Cant understand why I get the failure sound and the text file indicates it was successful first then fails.

Any help or direction welcome.

This is the last result from the memory card.

Just to add to the above post,

I tried removing the battery, installing a fresh battery and trying to upgrade with the new battery.  It again started good but then returned a long continuous beep signalling a failure.  Switched aircraft off again, checked memory card and it sure enough displays same success followed by failure.

I am very reluctant to fly this at the minute until I see a definite success returned on the memory card and given I have tried in with two different batteries now I am running out of things to try.

Tim, Ken,  any DJI guys available for comment and direction.
Just to add to the above,  I have now tried to reinstall version 1.04 and it wont install this.  Gets the same success then failure sound.  When checking App still says latest version.

OK I see. As far as what exactly could be wrong because of a crash I don't know. I'm not on the repair end and I thought you had a firmware update issue and I was trying to help.
Since it has been crashed and DIY fixed, there's not much I can do if you don't want to send it in fro repair.
I only knew about what the modules were after doing some research. I do not know where 8 and 15 are physically located but I will try and see.

GB44, the .txt file says your last successful update was 1.5, then tried 1.5 and it failed. I don't know why your remote says the aircraft is on 1.5. Not sure about the battery thing.
If you can connect just fine to the inspire and it says app 2.4.2, aircraft 1.5, and R/C 1.5.7 then you should be ok.
But I would try to reformat the SD card again and download 1.5 and verify the .BIN says WM610_FW_V01.05.00.30.bin
Then try the update again and if failed, post the .txt file before attempting to power cycle and have it start again.

Ken,

This is what I have done since my last post.  Re-charged a battery to full even though it was about 65% tried again and same thing.

Then I tried putting in a battery without the memory card and that hadn't been installed since trying to update.  The App shows the aircraft is now v1.04

I will attempt to update again

Ken,

OK, tried a different battery that had plenty of charge, over 60% and it hadn't been installed in the aircraft after trying to update to latest version.

erased all files from memory card, downloaded bin file from DJI site again, checked file name was what it should be, installed card into aircraft.   Remote control and App off, then switched on aircraft.  It started as it should then got the required updating signal/ sound then after about a minute or so it starts one long beep signalling a failure.

This is the text file result :

DJI Ken,

I am somewhat confused now tried everything, any suggestions ????

just deleted the Go App from iPad and reinstalled so will try the update again and see if that works.

Ok deleted the Go App.  Tried installing the new firmware Bin file on aircraft, starts good then fails again.  Switch aircraft off then power up controller and app.  The app says  aircraft version 1.5.00.30

This is the last text results off teh memory card :

When you reformat the SD card, you are doing from your home computer and not the DJI GO app correct?
It seems the SD card has 1.4 on the card as well.
It may be easier to have a rep walk you through the total process and see if we can get it. Please call 818-235-0789

Yeah, I am in the UK though, that will cost me a fortune.
I will reformat the card one last time, and try again.  If this fails I taking it back to DJI Dealer as I have never had any issues in the past updating.  I have also troes three different batteries and two different cards and also reinstalled the Go App.

I am running out of things to try here ...

I talked to someone in the repair center and they are suggesting sending it in.
if you are 100% sure there is absolutely zero data on the SD card before you are downloading the 1.5 firmware from here http://www.dji.com/product/inspire-1/info#downloads
and have tried different SD cards then it may be an issue with the flight controller.
And also to verify, it's an Inspire1 and your downloading from the Inspire1 page.

And one last thing, When you download the firmware you are extracting the .BIN file only and putting that on the SD card.
Also, if your using a 16gb card and you reformat, you are using FAT32. And if you have a 64GB card reformat to EXFAT.

The only thing I see is it tried to update to 1.5 then tried to do 1.4, then 1.5 again.
I'm not in the repair side, but someone did say that it shouldn't go back and try to do 1.4. But I don't know for sure.
I'm very sorry you are having the issues. You can also try to get it resolved on RCgroups.com and see if you get any resolution.

I tested it with the other camera I have and the firmware installed no problems.
Also log shows 8 and 15 detected - so 8 and 15 problem is a camera X3 problem!

In my case this camera is showing magenta/green pixels and is damaged.

The good camera I have shows 8/15 not detected so I can't install the firmware - it fails.

The question can I send just the X3 camera for repairs?

I understand the positiveness of getting people to update, but I have done this updating since the first Inspires were released and never had any issues.

So I am familiar with the update process and doing everything in the way it should be.  This leaves me to think it is not just a straight forward firmware update and something else is not quite right preventing the firmware updating.

The update has just killed my aircraft.
Exactly the same scenario as GB44

As always, I loaded the firmware onto my microSD card (formatted to FAT32), and started the update process.

At the end of the update process, the tone went into a flat beep (similar to the d-d-d-d, but ddddddddddd instead) and the logs showed an error. I tried it again, and the error persisted

I tried to downgrade to v1.4 and still have the error with the same symptoms.

I removed the SD card and formatted it, and inserted it as a blank SD into the aircraft, and there was no error showing up in DJI Go - firmware is correctly listed as 1.5.30 but now there is no video feed.

My aircraft is now unusable, and if any of DJI support staff can help me out, I'd really appreciate it
