one question I'm hoping you can advise , I messed up and turned my bird on while the card was still in the pc due to I wanted to see how the original update went.
Is there any ramification's from this ?
I immediately turned it off and inserted the card and continued to update my 2nd battery.

No that's OK. If you got a solid green gimbal light when doing the battery, all is good..

Have a good Christmas everyone, hope you get to fly the P3 some ( not likely for me with the weather ).

That's all OK... Just remember to update all batteries you have as this is not shown in the App ( hint to DJI to add the same firmware info screen as the Osmo has ;) )

Sorry dude, did a bit of a typeo there, corrected now..

Initial update ( first battery where the MC is also updated ) takes about 10 minutes, subsequent batteries takes about 2 minutes.. Looks like you are good to go

i am having an issue at this time I can't figure out...

tried using the dji p3pro today and when i clicked on "camera" inside the app it had the circle of death spinning and then the app crashed.... many times, with several devices, several different micro sd cards and i turned it off and on again... no idea what's happening. so i tried to update the firmware, and got stuck with my sd card not wanting to format or erase or anything.

so those are two issues in one. i have a shoot tomorrow, well actually I had one today that I couldn't make happen... i'm at a loss.  last time i updated firmware was with the new one from a couple weeks ago.

recently i also had 1/2 of the data on a card disappear upon insertion of the card reader to the computer. the first 1/2 day I shoat was find, and the second half day just disappeared. now that I think about it, all the shots after I changed the battery were toast. i am pretty sure i can retrieve the files with the san disk rescue pro app, since its worked in the past for me, but I don't want to spend another $90 on a one year license from san disk..

any ideas about any of these 3 issues, would be appreciated.

This may be a dumb question, but I am hoping someone can help.  I just opened a new Phantom3Pro and attempted to upgrade the firmware.  I upgraded the Phantom copter just fine with no problem to v1.6.0040.  Unfortunately, when I attempted to upgrade the Controller (using a flash drive and the micro SD), it failed, several times.  After much research, I was able to link my mobile device to the Controller and upgrade the firmware from the mobile device.  However, the upgrade was to version 1.5.70.   I cannot seem to upgrade the Controller to the SAME v1.6.0040 that the Phantom has.   DOES IT MATTER?  DO BOTH THE COPTER AND THE CONTROLLER HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME FIRMWARE?   Thank you very much.

Splooge:  There is version 2.4.3 for the DJI GO App nowbut other than that, it all looks good.

But I am getting the annoying tone plus the red light. Although the DJI Go App tells me everthing is up to date.
The About section says for the P3 Advanced: V1.6.0040, for the RC Unit V1.5.70 and the App at 2.4.3.

And I went flying everything is working. So it seems at least.

Newbie here. I've had my P3 Standard for a month and have been flying with no problems. I attempted the update last night (using the app, the only way to do it with the standard). It hung up at 64% for quite a while, so I was forced to turn it off. I attempted it several more times, but it always stopped at 40% (and the bird was beeping loudly the whole time it was on). The bin file on the sd card is corrupted and There's no place to download it, so what do I do now?

BTW: just today I noticed, as I have to batteries, that on the DJI Go App  one battery is showing the live stream quite nicely and the other does not show any image at all. The image just stays grey.

Why could this be?

I have a brand new P3P and the camera display is terrible...thought it was the ipad I was using but tried with a new one and I get the same pixelation on the screen anytime the camera moves.  Called tech support and the said to change the frame rate...hope this works!

I tried updated my p3pro. Updated battery is success but updated process culminate fail with sound D.... this why ? then when I opened DJI GO app, live HD in my devices is blank. Photo/video button is normal but when preview photo/video result is blank again, photo/video result is clear when I opened in my laptop (read micro directly). what are you knew it's happened ? any solution for back to normal ? I were very frustated with two my problem.

Hi. I have the same issue on my P3P with RC 300A: "No Signal" for liveview. Got it a couple days ago without any update om the aircraft, RC or app, just the iOS on my iPad Air 2. But everything else was working and still is after I tried all updates, relinking, reinstall app and so on. Many have the same problem and it looks like a hardware malfunction together with new software I think. My aircraft is showing in the app that it is updated but the txt-file says it didn´t do the update. And I get a long "beep" that never stops (waited 45 min), and the small LED on the camera is red.

No signal

My hidden txt-file shows like "twinkybot:s" above, "Packet upgrade failed at version checking".

Any solution or just to send in?

I'm new to this forum but have found an interesting thing as I've updated to 1.6 that everything worked fine for 1 flight then didn't on the 2nd flight after changing the battery.

Both batteries were updated the night before.

I have the HDMI upgrade to the controller and have found the same "Disconnected" as some of you on the Go app.  But I see the camera fine with the HDMI, even though the iphone doesn't show the camera.

The camera works fine when I hit the button to record video on the controller and turns off just fine.  But I don't have the ability to change anything on the iphone because it's "Disconnected".  

But everything on the HDMI screen shows total activity but no way to "touch screen" anything since I'm running a Black Pearl 7" direct HDMI system.

The HDMI monitor is reporting the battery % and all of the other information but I can't change settings or anything.  Since I have everything set prior to the upgrade it seems like it's a go.  I just can't use the iphone.

As long as I have the HDMI monitor hooked up I'm fine.

I haven't flown it yet with this situation but at home it's working fine in the house.

Had my Phantom 3 Pro stored since at least November due to it turning to just brown and gray out, but now that it's finally a winter wonderland and sunny tomorrow, I started prepping her for Saturday, see the firmware update, start at it and... failed with the screeching. Gone through every thread I could find, formatted card, tried another card, even tried the past 3 firmwares, all fail after a couple minutes, and there's no video signal now if I try to run it anyway. In the misc folder log file it's showing 15 and 08 as "device not detected", which I'm seeing people say they have to send back to DJI over... How on earth could firmware require being sent back for repairs? And how ungodly long is that going to take now that everyone who got a DJI product for Christmas probably crashed it on their first flight (or had the firmware updates brick it)? Ugh... With my luck the winter wonderland part of the year will be gone by the time it got back.

Hi, Thanks for the useful information. I have just successfully updated aircraft and 2 batteries. Some  points of feedback some of which have been mentioned earlier.

1. First battery took 7 minutes.
2. Second battery took about 1-2 minutes.
3. Aircraft Firmware version showing as 1.6.40 in DJI go app not 1.5.30+

Happy New Year Splooge,   Thanks for all your time and effort ,  last night I decided to update my P3P from 1.4.10 to but after many attempts would not start, tried updating to  1.5.30 and it was a success , tried to update from that to the latest 1.6.0040 and that worked , so aall is well with MC , but failed in updating the controller but would not download tried using the same micro sd card and on a stick and by lead  MC to Controller still would not do anything, perhaps there are no updated for controller  as its on firmware 1.3.20, any thoughts ?   thanks again for all your help on this forum.  cheers T  

DJI support please answer for these questions:
*I don't understand, why can't we downgrade to 1.4?
*Since this vibration (1.5 and 1.6) is the firmware problem and caused by DJI, maybe you can make an exception this time and allow us to downgrade to 1.4?
*Does 1.7 fixes all the vibration problems? You knew this already on 1.5 and you didn't fixed this in 1.6.
*When does 1.7 will be published?

1.5 is the latest firmware for RC.. The RC should be prompted to update from the GO App as per this thread - http://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=36061

Hi... I updated the aircraft to 1.6.40, and the RC to 1.5.70.  In the Overall Status is says "Normal (Latest firmware)".
Next I inserted my second battery, and powered up.  No battery update seemed to take place (no red-green whatsoever.)
When I turned on the RC, there was a message saying battery upgrade needed, and this time in About it showed the Aircraft version as 1.5.30+.
When I stick the first battery back in, and turn on the RC, it's like I stated above... "1.6.40".
So what's going on there?
1)  Am I safe to fly with either batteries?
2)  Why is the second battery not updating?

Anyone wanting to fly in 'COLD' weather needs to really go out and try this 1.6 FW so you know just what the implications are. Its total overkill and NOT for professional operators. I would NOT recommend this upgrade at all. O and just beware if you do get off the ground in 'COLD' weather it flied like a sloppy sofa until the AC decides its not 'Cold' anymore! What ever 'COLD' is right now my testing is NOT cold conditions. BE AWARE ANF FULLY TEST.

Hello, I'm trying to update to Phantom 3 Professional Firmware v1.6.0040. When I try and extract the files within the root director of my SD card, or anywhere else on my MAC, I get another file that says P3X_FW_V01.06.0040.bin.cpgz. It looks like a zip folder that needs to be extracted. Why am I not seeing files? I have not seen this in any other updates.  Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Please help me, I have a problem with my P3 Pro
I have a problem with live view of DJI camera with black view and then I try to upgrade DJI GO with the lates version (android) but my problem not fixed.

and then I have upgrede my P3P using FW v1.6.0040 but failed, tried downgrade using v.1.3 xxx030 with the same result.

This may be a dumb question, but I am hoping someone can help.  I just opened a new Phantom3Pro and  ...

I was a Phantom 2 owner. I decided to upgrade to P3A. Got my new bird yesterday. Bought directly from DJI.

The first thing I did after delivery yesterday was to check for firmware. I had V1.5.0030 on both the P3A and the controller and the latest firmware according to the DJI web site is V1.6.0040. So I went ahead and installed the new firmware after looking at their documentation on how to do that. The P3A update went just fine, but I cannot get the controller to update by using the SD card. I read up forums and found out that the G300B controller firmware can be updated with the DJI GO app. Is the proper way to update the firmware for the GL300C controller? and is the firmware update necessary for the controller going from V1.5.0030 to V1.6.0040.

Now I find this forum and find that I don't have to update the controller, after I have spent about 3 hours trying to find out why I couldn't update it. I don't see anywhere in DJI's literature or video on their Web site that this firmware update applies only for the Phantom and not for the controller. Why can't DJI tell us this stuff? Is it too difficult to add this on their Web site on their download page? VERY, VERY POOR communication with their customers and I am trying to be polite here.

I blew a little steam.... Now I feel better.....

I feel the frustration Richard.. Its sometimes a pain in the bum that DJI don't update release notes properly.

Can someone give me a link to RC updates for Pro/Advanced Phantom3.
There are Firmware updates for batteries, Qauds, apps on DJI site, but no RC updates.
