Curious to see how far out people have flown. To clarify, this is distance from the controller at any given point, not a total travel distance of a flight.

It removes easily, and there is room for it in my Drone Crate case

About 13,250', very rural, flat area. Stock P3Pro with Windsurfer and Marco Polo tracker.

Stock P3P (no antenna mods) just yesterday flew 2.4 miles/12,672' one way out over the valley between peaks.  Probably could have gone farther but wasn't really trying.  Was doing test/planning runs for a multi-leg GS flight I am trying to put together.  This one was just to see how close I could get to an exact spot in both location and final altitude so someone else could retrieve the quad while I made my way there to go the next leg.  I did, however, just order a booster like the windsurfer to help with this endeavor.

Stock P3A. Flying out to catch the fireworks at Millport!

Just over 8km out back battery mod and dbs ...just added sunhans so should crack the 10km mark

Flew 9000+ feet  over water. No problems. Stock machine. Came back just before the machine was about to land as I was at 16% battery. Stopped to take stills several times, or I could have made it back with plenty to spare on the battery. Love the bird.

Have you moved onto the Inspire yet? l'm loving this P3P. it's a warm winter here so it's still flying.

Hi Chris,

No, the P3 is just stock. lt goes for miles. l had full signal with no hiccups at 12,000ft but brought it home because it was windy with light snow. l wanted to make sure it would get home before losing battery.
My son did install the Itelite on the P2, and promptly took it over (thanks again   )
Apparently it would go for miles if he could keep FPV.
Do you have a P3 now?

No Inspire. Still got the P2V+ (locked on old FW and SW), the P3Pro and a Solo. Cold here, 20's (F) this week. Flying on and off when the weather cooperates. Look through the threads everyday when I can but don't post much anymore. Miss the old group. Will be getting crazy around here after Christmas! Good to hear from you again!

Yes, A P3P and love it!  Only added the gimbal saver from Killer RC and a carbon fiber shield.  I fly with an Nvidia Shield and use Litchi.  This bird is amazing!  I did order a Windsurfer though.  Should have it in a couple days.  Not really a mod, but can't hurt.

Not sure what I am going to do with my P2.  My grandson is a bit young for it.  But it just sits there now.  Glad your son is getting good use of yours.  Do you fly together?  Like you I am enjoying the warm December.  I flew yesterday - 50 degrees.

My son's now in his 20s and moved out on his own this summer. So l only got the chance to fly with him once this year.
I have a couple of friends in town who own P3s and we've flown together a couple of times - much more fun than flying alone!
l'm glad you're loving the P3, they're pretty amazing aren't they? l don't have any of the features other than course lock because l'm on original FW and the old Pilot app, but it's still perfect, lol.

Hadn't thought about the "Christmas Rush"  I don't want to wish anyone ill but I can imagine on the 26th and 27th the number of posts starting "Crashed Drone"

This is the craziest I've seen and I can feel the panic just by looking at the battery level and warnings they get towards the end :O


I have 3.1km with a P1 (Followed it in a car while recording path on cell phone)
2 km with a P2 (According to Flytrex)
No clue about the P3

Great video and perfect flight. I've only just purchased my phantom 3 advanced and will already be upgrading my controller.

With the DBS mod listed above, I achieved a rountrip of 21,288.3ft........NOTE:  I was really pushing the battery limit on this and certainly won't do that again

Just a note:  If you have a modded controller and are looking to set a personal travel distance with your bird, do it on a very calm day.  The wind, depending on which way you are going could cause an issue.  For example.  I was showing my uncle my P3P and took it out about 3200 feet away.  The wind was a little stiff on the way back and the battery went down A LOT as it flew back.  So if you are looking at a long distance flight to set some personal record, do it on a calm day or your bird may not be able to make it all the way back.

That being said, I went bout nearly 17,000 feet with my P3P (modded controller Itelite) on a pretty calm day.  Had about 20% battery power left when it landed.  I was a little nervous.

Cannot emphasize this point enough.  you definitely want a calm day or your quad might not make it back!

I agree with both of the posts above. Calm days are very important.

Well obviously it can and does.  In thinner air your quad has to exert more battery power to retain the same lift via faster spinning motors.  When I fly in the valley I can get up to 21 minutes flight time and routinely 17 to 20.  When I go to any of the peaks and fly off those (minimum 2600 feet higher in altitude for the lowest, and I know they are not that high compared to others) there is a noticeable decrease in flight time - up to 6 minutes.  

10500 at Borrego Springs in the middle of the desert.    In town, no more than about 2500' or so.

I just ordered the DBS mod. I typically fly from my backyard that borders the woods and can only fly south, as an airport is exactly 5.1 miles to north.  My stock P3A drops video feed at like 1,100 ft. away due to obstruction. Really hoping this mod improves my range.
