Please tell me how a firmware bug can fry a wi-fi module making it useless?

I tried what you said and downloaded the new Bug Fix Bin File put it in the OSMO did not get any flashing red/green lights only a steady Beep-Beep=Beep tone eventually shut it down read the 2 text files said success on one and upgrade cancelled on the other file firmware the same or older on the other --

I had previously installed the 140 bin with no problems on the OSMO except the About section reporting 119+ as the Firmware--Still no problem with the OSMO all working as before BUT still saying 119+ as the Firmware!!!

Any Ideas?

No I did not have the WI-FI problem after the first install of the new Firmware-only the About section reporting the Firmware as 119+

After reinstalling the new Bug Fix Firmware all well with OSMO EXCEPT still reporting 119+ as Firmware!

All new features per the release notes for 141 are there and work fine

You are good to go, everything updated fine on your Osmo. If the app has a +, then that means you are on the new firmware.

Thanks--curious though at one point after the install of 141 the About section did report Firmware 141 as the current Firmware on all my Devices IOS and Android ......

Now it's 119+ on all my Devices IOS and Android

I am glad DJI is going to fix this for free... I hope they also figure out a way to give us access to the moments we missed this Christmas because of this... Oh well. I shouldnt have updated the firmware on Christmas morning. Silly me for expecting the designer/,manufacturer to have a smart enough staff to avoid this. Wont happen again.

I can not believe that DJI can't give a solution to this HUGE problem with the 25th Dec update. There should be a way to repair it without sending the Osmo to DJI Services... I'm from Venezuela and It will cost me a lot of money just to send it and getting back, and also can of it's ruin my trip in the mountain....

I just update it on Dec 25th through the App. Now it won't connect for more than 2 seconds with my cell phone. The app never have a chance to open Live View.

I've try to reset WiFi (front button + shot button + power button) and also try to install the new update (BUG Fixed) through the MicroSD card but won't install I just got the red indicator and Beep sound.

Can I try to go back on the Firmware? How can I do it?

Please help!!   

Isn't  a way to fix it through USB port of the Osmo?

Just a quick question did you format SD card with Osmo first?

When I downloaded new Bug Fix Bin File on formated SD Card and turned on Osmo (just the Osmo) nothing else on,  Osmo reacted  similar for me as yours.
The update went rather quick.  I was expecting a long update as the first.   It only took but a few minutes and it caught me off guard so I really don't recall the number of beep and LEDs there were a few on both as I best recall.  Restarted Osmo with the same card in Osmo and went about normal use.

I also have the Osmo handle kit so after all was well with Osmo I transfered Gimble to 2nd handle turned on Osmo it did a very quick update, and all good.
Removed Gimble from handle #2 pulled the original SD card and replaced it with  SD card for Video/Photo use.

Question did you use the original DJI SD card?  I only use orignal supplied  DJI SD Cards on all FW updates only be it Inspire 1, Inspire 1 Pro, ect. And only for the purpose of FW updates.

If you did all the above the same.  I am at a loss, other then give it one more try with the above process again.   As of today I haven't had the 119+ show up on above.

Or just wait for DJI Tim for a answer..

PS  Is just bothered me too much that 119+ kept showing up, and the Osmo is more of something that I don't mind having down time on as I would my I1, I1Pro.  So the Osmo is more of a lets see if its okay to update FW first and work out problems with.  Kind of like a Flight simulator for me.

Sorry to hear it.  However it was mentioned you are okay good to go.

I guess sometimes DJI stuff just happens, or something to that effect.

FW updates are somewhat like going to a Casino placing a bet on Red 7and coming up Black 8!!  The smaller the bet, the less the pain.   Although I would never Place a $649.00 bet on Red 7Don

I updated before the warning came out.  Everything seems to be functioning fine for me. wifi is staying connected.  I haven't done too much testing since the update, but at first glance it seems ok.  Do I dare do another update with the "BUGFIX" firmware?

Luckily i just purchased my Yuneec Typhoon that came with the handheld gimbal. At least i can use that.

And the 2 point is much worse, am on vacation and my Osmo can not. invested a lot of money and got nothing goes, could really freak

Same problem for me

Made a roll back with an x3 black not updated , and then re-update with the link of this post all with the sd card.and redoo the update with the x3 i1 camera already updated.

seem to work, no deconection , but need to test longer, my wifi is in 5.8 ghz

That´s not a good Idea

There should never be two different releases of Firmware with the same Version number. That is total nonsense and should be fixed immediately. The Firmware HAS CHANGED SO IT IS NOT THE SAME VERSION. DJI will continue to have problems until they release a Version OSMO_FW_V01.04.01.81 or some other name. This insures that the DJI GO app can be useful and let people know they are about to load the wrong version. That is what the whole idea of programming and software protections and version numbering is all about.

Expecting Users to find a forum thread to learn they should look for the word BUGFIX in a file name is totally irresponsible. IMHO, of course.

3rd call today. Dropped after waiting 1.5 hours, then 35 minutes and now still waiting from number48 in thecque and now down to 23. Not good customer service and the online chat is down.

Made it to number 6 that time and a hangup from DJI. Sorry, customer service sucks

Excuse me, I don't speak fluent english, what's the meaning of RMA?

This is such a hassle DJI. I'll just request for a refund! This is ridiculous!

I've put in the bug fix FW and I'm still not able to connect to the OSMO via wifi.

Note: I can see the wifi name of the OSMO but my phone won't connect to it anymore. I even tried to forget and re-enter the password but still no success.

If your previous 1.4.1.80 fimware works well, there is no need to upgrade the bugfix one.

I had no issue with the Dec 25th firmware update (upgraded via SDCard) and it worked well in my situation... However, I had the funny issue of the version being displayed wrong off and on. Anyway, I attempted to re-apply the bug fix firmware by formatting the SDCard on my PC and putting the bug fixed version. I'm unsure if the firmware actually went in as it started up really fast. Checking the txt file in the SDCard, it mostly said skipped except for 2 success statements.

On a side note, my original battery, which I was not able to use (red flashing light) suddenly could be re-used! Very strange state of affairs but I'm happy I now have two usable batteries again

Greetings fellow OSMO beta testers.  Just purchased my OSMO with 1.0.1.19 firmware.  Was about to update last night and decided to check the forum first.  Glad I did!  Think I'll be staying with the version I have.  Another blunder by DJI.  This will definitely be my last DJI purchase.  Aren't you people getting tired of apologizing?  I'm tired of hearing them.

Like you, I purchased the OSMO with 1.0.1.19 just before Xmas, and held back from updating when the horror stories began to appear.  However, when I read that a couple of people had successfully updated their cameras with the BUGFIX version, I decided to update my firmware yesterday evening (28th), and  .............. yes, it updated without any problems. It's now 1.4.1.80 and working OK.

Just checked now and the firmware name and size seems to have changed again:

SIZE: 71.1 MB (74,656,006 bytes)
CREATED: 27 ‎December ‎2015, ‏‎10:52:02

question is, is this the correct firmware file to try? A lottery still, I think??

Oh forgot to mention the file name : OSMO_FW_V01.04.01.80.bin, so the file name seems to have reverted back to the one that gave all the trouble - BUGFIX is not in the name, hence why I am wary.

Nobody from Support Team still contact me. Osmo stil bricked :@
