Hasn't worked for me. I just get a continuous beeeeeeeeep when the update starts. The light on the front is also red continuously. I've spoken with a couple of dealers who both said the camera has failed to update and now needs to go back to DJI, so I am going to lose it for several weeks.

Any others with this problem, would be good to hear from you.

What version are you currently on, it looks like 1.4. You should be able to update to 1.6 with no issue. Try it again, reformat the SD card from your computer, make sure to only copy the BIN file to the SD card.
Here's a video a user made with the entire length of the update, watch it so you know exactly the beeps and camera gimbal red/green light are supposed to do.
If it does not update then post the hidden file here.

I tried to upgrade from 1.4 as well. I watched the video and it starts the same but then just continues to flash and never shuts off.

If when updating to 1.6 and you have no video after the update, try downgrading to 1.5 then back to 1.6 and do that several times. (downgrading is the same process as upgrading)
Then view the hidden log file by following these instructions:

First we need to set the hidden folder visible
Windows system :

If the log shows module 8 and 15 "Device Not Detected" then you will need to send it in for warranty repair. If it does not have those errors, then you should be able to upgrade.
This is only the error for no video signal at all, not intermittent video or other issues.

Yeah when I try to install 1.5 now from 1.6 the Phantom no longer sees the SD card in the reader... so I cant roll back to a previous version.  All I get is a blacked out video feed.

After the 6th time to try and upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6 I gave up. I then tried to upgrade to 1.5 but nothing happens. I use the same procedure I always have. I'll simply use it until DJI figures out how to produce an upgrade the works for everyone.

I find it incredible that a company that is this innovative could possible be so careless when it comes to releases. I have a brand new unit because the other crashed because of a firmware upgrade. Now this. My confidence in the product continues to deteriorate.

I thought I had the same problem when I upgraded. The video screen was black. The problem was that the upgrade changed my camera settings so all I saw was black! I went into camera menu and adjusted the setting back to auto and I was able to see again!

I never had the problem with the screen being black. Just the upgrade wouldn't finish.

From what i have read, and i could be wrong, is that 1.6 was basically just a battery upgrade. I did it and then had problems with video feed freezing and camera restarting. Then reformatted the sd card again, put 1.5 bin file on it, then downgraded and everything worked again. Dont know if the batteries kept the 1.6 update or not

if you have no video at all (not intermittent or laggy) and your hidden file says module 8 and 15 'Device Not Detected" and you've tried multiple times to upgrade/downgrade then there is no fix that the user can do and the aircraft needs to be sent in for repair.

Consider it a blessing in disguise. Stay at 1.4 and you will have no troubles. Why do you want 1.6 ...

I upgraded because there is a warning. After losing one do to firmware issues I'm very cautious now.

After clicking on the 'rc firmware update notice' which appeared on the dji go app.a download took place from the djigo app. i was instructed to reboot the dji go mobile app. after that I had a poor video transmission, poor rc communication with aircraft and, it was suggested that the aircarft might need a firmware update as well.  i already did a successful upgrade to 1.06.0040.  No matter where I moved the signal quality did not improve.  How do uninstall the firmware to the previous version in the RC?

I have a advanced Phantom purchased from DJI website on the 18 December 2015. I have logged approx 5 flights and I recently tried to fly my drone but unfortunately it has “Signal Error”.

I have updated to the latest firmware for both Drone and RC before any flights. I am unsure what the issue is and obviously cannot take any pictures or video. I have searched the forums and attempted a number of resets, firmware downgrades and cables (including other devices – moved from iPad mini to iPhone to check).

* I have tried reinstalling DJI iOS App (even used android and different iOS device)
* Linked RC again
* Calibrated Gimbal and IMU
* Different reformatted SD Card
* New iPad cable to RC
* Firmware update to latest (confirmed for advanced version - not professional)
* Checked physical wiring from outside
*reseated cables from drone to gimbal (as per DJI support request)

Something very different from my first flight is that I noticed my go app registers the drone as a "Professional" and not "advanced" (it used to show as advanced phantom)??

I also have the same issue some people report re the gimbal going limp about 10 seconds after boot up. I can control it during this boot up phase. In addition to this, if I put in SD card (formatted on so many different machines at least one should have worked if this was it) it seems to reset (plugged drone into PC via micro-usb to check) every few seconds. This seems to demonstrate that some issue with camera / gimbal?

Please also note I can fly the drone no problem, but I have "no signal" and no therefore no video feed.

I unfortunately don't have the text file output, I accidentally deleted it when reformatting the SD card after firmware update to make sure it was clean before I flew again. Now I can't get the SD card to downgrade or upgrade firmware as its not registering correctly (the SD card that is). I can try multiple types of SD with same outcome. I also tried to force reinstall by holding in drone RC link at boot (read somewhere this will force firmware update).

I reckon I have burned about 2 solid days diagnosing this awesome (but totally crap) device.

Getting desperate now, any help appreciated!

Hi;
Same here. Lost signal more often after FW upgrade to 1.6.040. Lost it while the bird in air, lost it too while the bird is just sitting on the floor (props removed) while the RC is plain 2 meters away. I even tried the 32 channel mod, no effect. If I downgrade the FW, the GO app will just bug me with the upgrade notice. As a friend suggested, we'll just wait out till DJI fixed or released the next FW. I can't afford to loose an expensive equipment.

I had the same happen after update. Lost video signal but could control P3P from the remote, the GO app just disconnected when I tried to get to control screen.

I had also just installed Vertical Studio Beta firmware, and that was crashing just giving me a black screen. I also have Airnest and FPVcam released versions and B4youFly.

First I updated my iPad Mini 2 to 9.2. No difference.

Then I uninstalled all the apps for the P3P and reinstalled all of them except Vertical Studio, trying after each install. Everything works fine now. I still have to test fly, but all apps communicate fine with the P3P.

I updated all my batteries and will test fly in the next day or two.

My conclusion is that the Vertical Studio Beta SW caused some problems on my iPad. So I have not reinstalled it. I also had a few other Flight test Betas running, I uninstalled them and Flight Test as well. Then I reinstalled FlightTest and B4youFly, and now that work perfectly as well.

I contacted Vertical Studio about this, they are looking into it.

So I would suggest to anyone still unable to get video signal to uninstall all p3 related programs and then reinstall and see if that clears it up. Start with just GO and test that then one by one the others testing after each reinstall.

I hope this may help some of you.

It was a bit frustrating but I am used to Beta testing so I was not surprised...

Ok so my situation is similar but I have good signal and everything looks right but the live video feed does not show up on the app. Bought the p3S on 12/31 flew for 20 min and everything was great. Video worked and could take pictures.Then I Installed firmware which went through complete update and said complete. powered back on and BAMMMM NO LIVE FEED and videos and pictures are all black. This seems to be a huge problem. IS it possible to put the P3 Standard back to old firmware? I cant seem to find a file for it. I see the professional firmware's but nothing for the standard.

As I stated a few posts up. Just reinstalling the Go app and my other P3P apps made everything work great again.

I took a test flight a few hrs ago and the P3P flies perfectly and the video feed is strong on ch 20.

The P3P actually felt smoother than on 1.5.

So everything is back to normal after the hiccup.

I have a new unit as well. first three flights were fine now I am getting no video signal in video record mode. in photo mode photos are not being recorded to sd card. This is frustrating unit is a few days old

1.5 seems to be working although I still get that annoying warning. I am now running 1.4 in my drone and 1.5 in the controller.

Hi Ken, I'm having the same issue discussed here and my findings hidden log fine has the NO DEVICE DETECTED report on the 8th and 15th modules. Now is this a hardware issue? If so, whats the cause? Cos it happened all of a sudden when I tried to upgarde the f/w and since then there is no solution. It was working perfectly fine until then.

I'm from India and DJI doesn't have a base in here and hence there are no chances of warranty replacement. Kindly help me get it fixed ASAP. Thanks in advance

I'm sorry you had this issue, it has happened on only a tiny percentage of the aircraft.
Try going down to 1.6 and back to 1.6 several times and hopefully it will give a successful update.
If not, then the only option is to send it to Hong Kong for a warranty repair.

Even I'm having the same problem as you... Unable to downgrade the upgrade as well... Everytime it fails with a continuous beep. As, DJI-Ken said the hidden log file also has the error message. I make a living out of my helicam and this is making me a lose my hope...
