The DJI Go app writes the MP4 video files to the Android smartphone's internal storage.  Is there an option for saving to the SD card instead?

I don't think so, but it would sort of depend on the device I think.  However,  that is low res video anyway.  You could transfer the hd video on the drones sd card to your phones sd card if you want to be able to see drone videos on your device.  And if you turn off the cache option in the Dji-Go app,  then the low res stuff will not be stored on your device at all.
