No, it is not normal. hover accuracy is Vertical: +/- 0.1 m (when Vision Positioning is active) or +/- 0.5 m.
If you don't see that then preform an IMU calibration.

DJI-Ken,
    can you offer some advise what I did wrong or if there is aprobelm with the firmware,
     followed the  firmware processes thought I did everything right but when I put the sd card in the drone it does the normal start up/ initial beeps but never goes into the update process with the ddd-ddd etc.
   I left it running for 30 minutes and nothing.
Tried deleteing it off the card then reinstalling it and same results.
    never had this happen before always had succes on firmware updates.
could it be a corruped card even though I have had no problems prior.
one note is my pc recently updated to Windows 10 and I get  popup when I put the sd card into my PC  that says -
  Photogallery
X an error is prventing photo or video from being displayed error code O x8000000A
  I able to open the data on the card and it shows the new firmware , below is my log.
any help would be greatly appreciated !

Can't vote.  First, I have 2 phantoms.  Second, neither is running a listed firmware.

P3P - 1.1.9

I use the latest FW versions and always have. I am not a veteran by any means, but I have updated 4-times I believe. I think it is best to have the current versions of everything. Just my opinion. You have to understand that they cannot support older versions forever. I understand being concerned about upgrading when everything seems fine, but I think it is your best interest to do so. I don't think DJI does do a good enough job as far as explaining how to upgrade though. I don't have any issues any more but I did struggle at first and spent a lot of time reading these forums which are a wealth of information!
About the drone falling out of the sky......just my opinion but I don't see how a firmware upgrade could do that. Seems more like a mechanical failure with something hitting the props or something, or running out of battery power.
