Who's afraid to fly over water. Shot this video with my P3P. It was a cold gray day when I shot this. Please share your photos or videos over water. Post in Final Cut Pro X. Added 75% of yellow to the hi lights with Pixel film studio FCPX LUT.This one I did last year.

Some times low flight like yours can be VERY hard to resist!
Like when youre faced whith scenery like this and need a way to spend your lunch.


The problem with 2D FPV is that you cant really judge stuff like altitude very well..


It was a long lunch. Found a great guy in a near by cabin and used his boat.
My little P1 Baby still shined it's lights and boy was I happy to find it!
Dried for a few days and got right back up! Don't count on this kind of luck ;)


So rather than becoming afraid of water I'll stay a little higher

Not me I fly over water all the time. I just turn off the vision positioning sensor if I am flying over water.

The pictures is from my old Samsung Galaxy Note 2 cell phone and probably no settings touched as I was in a REAL hurry to find my drone

I'm not afraid of flying over water...but I am afraid that if she was to go down in the water I'd freak out and dive in to get her.  Now that I think if it what I will do is every time I want fly over water I will put $50 in a kitty until I have enough for a replacement.  After I reach that amount I will add $20 a flight.  Maybe I should just start now with $20 per flight into the replacement fund.

Yea, as long as it's fresh water and recovered quicly there's allways a chance to save it.

First over water was recent, during flooding in North GA, over a normally lightly flowing Apalachee River.  It was a greater risk bringing it back for landing with all the trees in the area.

Sorry, but I found that footage extremely annoying to watch. Slow down! Stop throwing the camera around like a fire hose. You do not hold any one shot long enough for the viewer to comprehend the scene, try slowing down the camera tilt and yaw rates on your controller. Smoooooth.

Here's one from chasing fishermen returning from The Norwegian Sea.
The bridge is to replaced with a much taller one to allow for safe passage of large ships in dangerous weather

Yes, the sound was recorded after the various shots of the river.  What I did was set my iphone to record the sound of the river for about 2 minutes and just dropped that sound in during the edit.  It was very loud rushing water and very important to include.

I used to fly over all the time and used two of these for the Phantom http://www.water-buoy.com/ I'd like to buy some more but can't see to find any.
Also, good idea to have a GPS tracker in case you crash on land far from home. I use this.http://trackimo.com/index.php/en/ And people out there also make 3D printed Trackimo mounts for the Phantom.

The vertical takeoff and landing of Phantoms and other drones makes Ice on water like that perfect!
No metals, extremly flat and no vegetation
Airplanes and people are a different story

I wonder why they are hard to find now. I bought mine about 3 years ago and they were available everywhere, manufactures website, Amazon, Ebay. I never sank a my Phantom so I can't say that they worked but I wonder if there was a problem and they can't be found everywhere anymore.
