I had a motor failure only a few days after opening the box. I did a few flights, no major crashes but it did tip a few times. This last "crash" happened at about 1 foot off the ground but it was sudden. Just hovering and boom.....hard bank right to the ground. The prop is stuttering and flipping directions at any power level. I sent a message over to DJI but while I'm waiting for an answer do you guys think it's the motor or the esc? The motor itself get red hot now so I have already assumed that it's fried.

Any idea what the part number is for the Phantom 2 vision plus clockwise motor?

A new motor will run about 20 bucks, a new ESC about the same.  Don't know the part number offhand but you can find it from a variety of online stores.  Here's one to start you off (Might want to bookmark it.)  www.atlantahobby.com
