I have seen a ton a threads about GeoFencing. I am just curious on why DJI has implemented this already. We all know it's coming from our goverments at some point and time, but I am just cruios on why now. I am not looking for an argument, just a general why.

According to Brendan Schulma from DJI, if they (meaning DJI) don't do something now to address safety concerns, the mandate(s) by the government(s) will be much worse and heavy handed.

The Geo fencing is a Beta firmware for users to test out.
It's actually a pretty cool thing. If you live by or need to fly next to an airport that is currently a no-fly zone, you are able to do it now,.

And that is a point that is being completely bypassed by all the current hysteria. It actually allows you to do something you could not before.

And DJI are not the only drone company to introduce geofencing, just the first to put it out there for testing.

Hi Ken, Please read the scnerio below (in Blue) carefully and let us know how we can get "Instantly ...

I totally understand that. Some people may store their drones in their car wherever they go just in case that something appears that you just have to have an aerial shot of it. In this case, if there's no cell reception that equals no shot.
BUT that's just how it is, things change and rules evolve. What would you do 10 years ago if you saw something that was a great photo opportunity. You may have said, I wish I had some device that I could attach a camera to and send it up 100ft to get a incredible photo. At least be thankful that you can do that now.

maybe not so harmless if what Ken says.
don't know myself yet as winter has hit hard for now!

That doesn't bother me. Brendan Shulman has already said in this thread that the issue raised here has been raised by many people already and they are considering a solution for it. That is as good as saying a fix is on its way.

sounds good if it works out that that way.

to bad he has not thought to pass that "info" to the CSR dept.

seems that DJI creates its own crisis's, with its hush hush secrecy from even themselves at times.

"self inflicted gunshot wound" I call it.

Good communications can trump many issues and problem with customers.
One thread DJI  says:         not a problem, we will fix
another thread DJI says:     To bad rules change, you lose

so easy to fix if they wanted to!
